Publisher's summary

Some believe that special someone is out there just waiting to be found. Jorie Andolini is one of those people and has spent a lot of time envisioning that moment. She bumps into a woman at a grocery store, the woman drops a can of peas, Jorie picks it up, their eyes meet, and two souls connect. But it's actually a wasted trip to New York, a snowstorm, and a canceled flight home that puts her in the path of Lena Vaughn.

Lena has found fault in every man she's ever dated. Her dream of finding a husband is dwindling with every year that passes. Despite what her friends say, Lena doesn't believe she has a fear of commitment, she simply hasn't found a man she wanted to commit to. It comes as a surprise that in fact it is a woman who stirs those desires. For Lena, it's not really a matter of sexuality, it's just Jorie.

Travel the road to happiness with Jorie and Lena. Two crazy old women, meddling friends, and cattitude are just some sights you'll see along the way.

So much fun

Loved this story. I was rolling around laughing my butt off for the majority, and besides that, the story was well written had great flow and perfectly formed world. The monster meatloaf and the bruised butt had me in tears. I absolutely loved the side characters, they are amazing. especially gran and aunt c. the narrator is amazing as well, her voice is very pleasent and her inflections and tones bring the funny to hilarity.

A must listen romance

I adored this road trip romance! It had me giggling and sighing at its adorableness. I can't wait to read more by Robin Alexander. Lisa Cordileone did a fabulous job narrating!

Just The Best

I looked back at some of my reviews and saw books I'd trashed before getting halfway through them, that I ended up really liking. There were books that I'd totaled or praised after listening to once that either evolved or devolved after multiple plays. My solution was to take some time off; I decided to give myself an hiatus from reviews of any audio lasting more than two hours. I also decided that in most cases I wouldn't do a review of any selection that I hadn't listened to at least twice. Despite all that extra caution I'm about to gush like a..., nope better not use that metaphor; I'm about to heap praise on this little book like it just won the Pulitzer.
First, the amount and level of humor in this book was fantastic particularly the ice on Jorie's ass and Lena's bout with food poisoning. I found myself falling for both of these ladies, I was swimming in genuine lady lust for both them, something quite unusual for me; usually there is at least one of the two leading ladies that causes to question the book's authenticity; not understanding why would the other woman ever go for her?
The car trip from New York to New Orleans is just what it was used as a vehicle for the two lead characters to get to know each other, while introducing them to the reader. Back home in New Orleans they go their separate ways but it's obvious that they will reconnect at some point soon. when they do they both face the opposition of their friends and Jorie faces some from her family as well. This is thankfully one romance novel that doesn't stoop to some ridiculous contrived breakup to build the tension for the inevitable coming together.
Then after eight hours without any of the silly, manufactured, made for TV crap the epilogue is a perfect example of over reaching. despite the fact that it's setting is the couple, their friends, and families awaiting the Supremes' decision to overturn DOMA; aka The Defense or Marriage Act. No matter what a groundbreaking moment it was, it didn't mesh well with the rest of this story, and didn't fit well with the rest of the book. Perhaps a story that begins with this historic ruling and motivates a closeted lesbian to follow her heart instead of allowing herself t be forced into a conventional hetero female role might do it justice, in fact I have been surprised that the end of DOMA hasn't played more prominently in this genre. It was a monumental change in national policy. Remember in the 2008 presidential campaign Barack Obama position was in favor of DOMA. The bill itself wasn't vetoed, but was signed into law by another Democratic President Bill Clinton.

Run don’t walk to read or listen to this book. It’s Fabulous!”

What else would you expect from Robin Alexander! It was a very good audiobook and Lisa Cordileone did a wonderful job at Narrating. I had originally read the book and was excited to see it in audio form. I immediately purchased it knowing that if the book had me laughing out loud (sometimes to tears) then the audiobook would not disappoint. Mrs. Cordileone Nail It! by giving voice to these incredibly well written characters...Take a listen, you won’t be disappointed. 5 Star across the board!”
Well done Mrs. Alexander, well done!
