Publisher's Summary

As a former con artist, I love a convoluted, mind-bending scheme as much as the next guy. But as a recently promoted MagiPol agent, I love it significantly less than that guy.

Especially when the life of a kidnapped teen hangs in the balance.

Between confusing orders and conflicting evidence, this whole investigation has me and my partner, Lienna, spinning in circles. Why is our boss keeping this case off the books? Why is our top suspect, the most notorious rogue in Vancouver, mired in contradictions? And why am I the only one who cares more about the victim than their own ulterior motives?

Everyone wants me to shut up and follow orders, but that's not my style. I'll do whatever it takes to save this kid - even if that means returning to my roguish roots.

Pulling it together, setting up for more

This book did a great job of tying together some of the other storylines including the Crow and Hammer stories and the demon stories with a whole new story. Kit’s continuous diatribe of movie and pop references reminds me of ready player one which was also a favorite. Loved the energy and I’m looking forward to the next installation.

Seamlessly intertwines with the Guild Codex World

If I've said it once, then I've said it two times, this writing duo has cracked the code to Urban Fantasy. Rogue Ghost seamlessly intertwines with the other series. Characters from other series come through the story and you're able to recall these scenes from the other perspective.

In this installment, Kit has to come to terms with positive and negative impact that his magic has on others. You actually feel him grow in maturity. Sike, he is still as silly and funny as ever.
The romantic portions aren't forced and you're able to get to know the characters as they get to know each other.

Narration by Iggy Toma is excellent!

For me, it's a perfect story.

What’s in the box?!

“You’ve got the accuracy of a drunken mosquito in a hurricane”
This was a way lighter, funnier cop procedural than in the movie Seven. But, given Kit’s love of movie references, I can’t believe there wasn’t a nod to the “what’s in the box” mystery as this book spent a lot of time with the characters trying to break into a magically sealed case. Of all the spin-offs of the Guild Codex, this is my favorite because it has the best balance of magic, action, and comedy. Plus, I dig narrator Toma.

I also like this series because each book stands alone. Yes, there’s always an epilogue teasing the next mystery. Yes, there are tie-ins and cameos from the other series (this book occurs concurrent to book 3 in the Demonized series and book 6 / 7 of the Spellbound series). But, so far each of the Warped books presents a self-contained mystery and you don’t need to have read any of the other series to follow the plot. For example, the Crystal Druid has a mid-sized role here, and even though I haven’t read any of that spin-off, I never felt like I was missing anything.

Wait for a sale, due to the shorter length. Then, pop the ear buds in and enjoy the audio-candy. Like pop-rocks for your brain.

Another great series in the guild codex world.

Kit is one of my favourite characters in all of the guild codex series's, he is such a crack up. As much as I like his chemistry with Lienna, I loved it more with Zak - The Ghost. When these two had scenes I was laughing so hard, I hope we get more time with these 2 in future books. This is my favourite in the series so far & cannot wait for more.

Decent, enjoyable with some weak spots.

In these spin off series it gets a bit boring rehashing past events. We've already done Zach/The Ghost being misconstrued as an evil kidnapper & then being revealed as actually saving these kids from bad home situations. Blah blah. The new material is good but I don't need to hear what every character thought about past events that were previously explored in detail. Still I'll keep listening as the bones are good & Kit is sweet.

Getting better

This series is getting better, the performance was better and the story is getting more exciting. Loved the cameos of characters that I know and love. I am actually now looking forward to the next book.
