As a con man-turned-MPD-Agent, I'm fairly new to the whole "upholder of justice" thing, but even for me, there are some lines you just don't cross. Agent Söze of the MPD's Internal Affairs department, on other hand, seems determined to slime his way across every ethical line in existence like an over-sized eel on a power trip.

While he's dismantling the precinct and hunting down rule-breakers among the staff-a category which my partner and I definitely fall into-a veritable storm of crazy is spreading through the city. Local troublemaking guild, the Crow and Hammer, has been accused of harboring a demon mage, and while I'm not sure what to believe, I've got bigger problems to tackle.

That is, until a certain notorious rogue druid calls me up about that big IOU I accidentally promised him. Now I have no choice but to dive into the chaos-though if I can knock Söze down a peg or two in the process, it'll be worth it.

Worth the credit

I was going to skip this one because it was only 2 hours or so long, I really didn’t want to waste a credit. After listening to this I am so glad that I didn’t. It tied up a lot of loose ends and it has you begging for more. Thank you Annette!!!

Is there ever a bad Annette Marie book?

Action! Witty dialogue and laugh out loud Kit!

Grateful to have both the ebook and the audiobook of this. I have nearly every book of Annette Matie’s. Fantastic author inspiring stories. They come alive in my imagination and I feel the characters are like long lost friends. I can’t wait to see them again.

Jail break and mutiny- good times!

“They were a bunch of trigger happy cowboys who lived in
that gray area between necessary roughness and violent overkill.”
This was everything a good novella should be: fast paced, fun, and action packed.

“Just give me an eye patch and call me Snake Pliskin.”
Plus pop culture references up the wazoo, befitting the brand of this Guild Codex spin-off.

“Big time sht, elephant Metamucil sht.”
For those listeners trying to herd cats and keep up with the proper listening order, this novella is best heard as an alternate POV with book 4 of the Guild Codex Unveiled spin-off, aka The Crystal Druid series.

“Holy desecrated dumpster fire!”
The events here set up the next book so I’d wait until you’ve got that one before listening to this.
Or not. This is short enough and fun enough that a repeat listen works great too.
