Lots of fun!
This story is a very entertaining and light hearted murder mystery with a twist. I am a Sookie Stackhouse fan and I found this story to be in a similar vein but more innocent, less gory- possibly written with a younger audience in mind. The main character has a lot of sass and has a way of sharing her opinions with the audience that keep the reader in the middle of the action. The narration by Elizabeth Klett is excellent. She portrays the many characters with style and individuality. She is a prolific audiobook artist- well worth checking out. I would certainly like to check out other books by the author.

Paranormal Chick-Lit
This is a really interesting paranormal chick-lit, while there is a touch of romance, it is mainly about the suspense. That is all well and good, but I was hoping for more romance.
Veronica is an interesting character, perhaps a bit to hapless at times. Girl, when you are being chased by possible bad guys and you think you got away, do not wander into a creepy abandoned house and woods!!!! Stay in your safe car!! Other than that she is fun to read and immensely like-able.
The fellas surrounding her are another story. If I were in a band with a jerk like Frank, you can bet I would replace him. Doesn't matter how well he plays, he is an a$$hat. The cops are also far from sincere or like-able. Buzz is kind of dishy, but very mysterious. I adored her BFF Kitty, would love to see more of that relationship!
The romance is kind of nonexistent. More of a flirtation. Only a few kisses, no true heat or steam.
The whole book is from Veronica's POV, which limits things. You only know what she is thinking and feeling. This tends to keep you out of the loop about other's motives. In a mystery this is expected, I just wish we had a touch of her friends or the killer in the narration. It would have added depth.
I liked the whole Rockabilly music scene, wish there could have been more of that. Loved the gigs and interactions at the bar/rehearsals. There was more to explore than the mystery killer. On the topic of that killer, there was way too many red herrings to sort through. I get that they were needed, cause otherwise it is pretty dang obvious who the killer is and why.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Elizabeth Klett, who does an excellent job with all the voices. She has a great tone that really adds to the quality of the read. Her pace is nice and swift, which I prefer. The men's voices were just deep enough to get an impression, but not so much they sounded overdone. Her energy throughout the read matched the pace and feel of the movement in the story. Terrific listening experience all around!
I would be interested in seeing what is next. The ending leaves things open for the possibility of a series. That might be very interesting!
Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

Par for course with Pressey book
If you go into it knowing it is a Pressey book then it can be enjoyable; this one is about the same as most of her books. Easy read, can give it less than your full attention.
If you’re willing to let your mind loosen up a bit to put up with some TSTL behaviours, incorrect usage of words, typos of cliches, entire sentences repeated, and some department of redundancy department phrasings, then this can be a good plot-lite, easy read, witch/vampire story.
Narrator missed some inflections; is nothing to write home about but nothing to make you pull your hair out either.

I just can’t
This book had the potential to be very good. The narrator is great but the story is driving me crazy! I just can’t listen to anymore. The main character keeps repeating herself over and over and over! I just can’t anymore

Good Book...
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This book was alright. I'd say it was definitely worth my time but it did need improvement in some areas. The main character, I'd say she was more ditzy than anything else and the questions. Always questions. She asked the same questions over and over again through out the book. So many questions and second guessing herself that it almost made me want to pull my hair out. Also, some of the situations she put herself in was just plain stupid. Kind off like walking out in front of a moving vehicle and hoping you don't get run over.
What about Elizabeth Klett’s performance did you like?
I thought her performance was pretty spot on. She has a very nice voice and played all the characters well.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes. I probably would go see it. Just to see if all the commotion going on in Veronica's mind calmed down.
Any additional comments?
I was not that impressed with this book but it was good and anybody who likes a little bit of mystery would probably enjoy this book. It was worth the credit I spent on it.
