Publisher's Summary

Out of the ashes of a devastated Woodbury, Georgia, two opposing camps of ragtag survivors develop - each one on a collision course with the other.

Underground, in the labyrinth of ancient tunnels and mine shafts, Lilly Caul and her motley crew of senior citizens, misfits, and children struggle to build a new life. But a secret ambition still burns in Lilly's heart and soul. She wants her beloved town of Woodbury back from the plague of walkers, and now the only thing that stands in her way currently roams the wasted backwaters of Georgia....

Way out in the hinterlands, amid the rising tide of walkers that seem to be pushing in from all directions, the psychotic Reverend Jeremiah Garlitz rebuilds his army of followers with a diabolical secret weapon. He has designs on the destruction of Lilly and her crew - the very people who vanquished his cultish church - and now, for the first time, he has the means to bring a special brand of hell down upon the tunnel dwellers.

The final confrontation between these two human factions unleashes an unthinkable weapon - forged from the monstrous hordes of undead, perfected by a madman, and soaked in the blood of innocents.

From the creator of the TV sensation The Walking Dead comes the next installment in this terrifying and completely original series, where the legions of the dead come alive to carve out their domain.

Critic Reviews

"Narrator Fred Berman paints a gory picture of life for the people of Woodbury who haven't yet been eaten by zombies.... This audio production doesn't encroach on either the television show or the comic series. Instead, it creates its own mythology using people on the fringes." ( AudioFile)

Good not great!!!!

This installment of the books, is okay at best. the first book the rise of the governor will always be the best story! It's just gotten to a point where how much more can they go on with lily caul, and the story is always the same! More zombies more herds, bring back the same villain, they need something new and exciting to write. The book didn't get remotely good till the last 2 hrs I'd say. If your a walking dead fan like me then get it because if your a fan you'll always wanna know what happened next. I hope if they do another book it will feature diffrent characters, or even location how about possibly New York or London anyways 3 out of 5 stars!!!!!!!!

Well written zombie king theme

Of all the stories of someone leading an army of zombies, this is the only one that was good. The author made a great effort to give a believable background and motivation of why this crazy preacher is doing what he is doing, his methods and why humans are following him too. It worked. Great character depth, twists and I like Lilly again, not like in the last book. Satisfying ending. Looking forward to the next book, how can they survive now?

Entertaining story

I really like the reader of this series. I appreciate that the same voice is telling the story. But ... this series is addicting and well written. I have been glued to what is going to happen next to our heroine. Can’t wait till the next installment!!!

Another excellent installment

Would you consider the audio edition of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead: Invasion to be better than the print version?

Yes

What other book might you compare Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead: Invasion to and why?

The book is one of the best in the zombie genre

Have you listened to any of Fred Berman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He's an incredible narrator. One of the best by far.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was.

Any additional comments?

This entire book series needs to be turned into screenplays

Another good addition to the series

I have enjoyed the story of Lily Call and the other survivors, and I think this novel was better than the previous part of the series. No spoilers but the highlights were some good action and creative zombie kills. There were a few long conversations, but that just part of this series of novels.

Awesome as usual!

I loved the story! It's so cool to be able to hear another dimension of another group and how they struggle to survive. To be able to also hear how their lives have impacted Rick and his group is really neat. I recommend this to any Walking Dead fan.
