Publisher's Summary

She's back. For the two years she's been away at boarding school, and there was no word from her. Back when we lived in the same house, she used to cut me down during the day and then leave her door open for me at night. I was stupid then, but now I'm ready to beat her at her own game.

I'm back. Two years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he's better than me. But I won't be scared away. Or pushed down. I'll call his bluff and fight back. That's what he wants, right? As long as I keep my guard up, he'll never know how much he affects me.

Critic Reviews

"As gripping as it was sexy! Witty dialogue, great chemistry and a great plot make Rival a book you don't want to end." (Colleen Hoover, New York Times best-selling author)

oh the DRAMA

So many twists & turns.... a little "unreal" but makes for a wild story! It's amazing how much thought we put into things without ASKING what happened or what the deal is.

Loved Madoc! I thought he was hilarious & I loved Fallons no BS attitude. And of course appearances by Tate & Jared! I can't wait to hear Jax story!

Madock's Story

Would you consider the audio edition of Rival to be better than the print version?

N/A

What did you like best about this story?

Picks up where Bully left off. It tells the story of Madock and gives his character a more endearing depth.

What does Abby Craden and Nelson Hobbs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Narration was perfect. I love that It was a his and hers narration.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The female narrator

The female narrator had an awful voice when she did the male voice. I can’t understand how anyone would give her the job. She sounds awful! It took all my will power not to shut it off.

So much better than the 1st book

I liked this book so much more than the first one. Madoc is a lot more likeable and because we get his point of view, we see why he acts the way he does. He also isn't a huge bully, he's funny and we see that he cares for Fallon right off the bat. Fallon was a better female main character to me because she stands up for herself and doesn't care what others think about her. The narrators also did a good job with their characters, which helped me get into the story.
I enjoyed seeing more of Jaxon and I'm looking forward to his book next!

Fantastic

Where does Rival rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

in the top 5!

What other book might you compare Rival to and why?

Penelope Douglas' other books were fabulous too.

Any additional comments?

I loved Bully and Until you - this book had the same love/hate to it as those books did. It was almost exactly the same which could have turned me off but it didn't.

Bad narration

When I was ready to read "Bully" I read the reviews and saw that there were a lot of complaints about the narrator. So I bought the book on Kindle and I fell for Jared and Tate's story. I bought "Until You" as an audioboook and loved it. I liked Madoc in the story so I was happy to see he has his own story. Unfortunately I did not reseach to see who the narrator was, if so I would not have bought this book on Audible. The narrator ruined the book for me. There was not much inflection in her voice and I would be lost until I realized that Fallon was going through a flashback in the book. It was very difficult to get through this book.

Loved this! ❤

Taboo step siblings with a past 😏. There's a hot scene I can't stop thinking about because it showcases Madoc's desire for Fallon and it's kinda kinky. Loved this! ❤ Also...I want Madoc's dad's story even though I think it would be sad af. Fallon's mom is a 🤬!

disappointed

Really didn't like the female narrator.

Was also disappointed by the story. I was really excited for it, but felt let down.
