Publisher's summary
Celebrated yoga teacher and activist Seane Corn shares pivotal accounts of her life with raw honesty - enriched with in-depth spiritual teachings - to help us heal, evolve, and change the world.
“My first lessons in spirituality and yoga had nothing to do with a mat, but everything to do with waking up. They included angels, seeing God, and being in Heaven. But, believe me, not the way you might think.” So begins Revolution of the Soul.
What comes next sounds like a riveting memoir filled with uncensored moments of joy, pain, wonder, and humor. Except, this book is so much more than that.
Seane's real purpose is to guide us into a deep, gut-level understanding of our highest Self through yoga philosophy and other tools for emotional healing - not just as abstract ideas but as embodied, fully felt wisdom. Why? To spark a "revolution of the soul" in each of us so we can awaken to our purpose and become true agents of change.
Just a few of the stops along the way include:
The everyday "angels" Seane finds in the gritty corners of New York's 1980s East Village; her early struggles as a total yoga-class misfit; the profound shadow work and body-based practices that helped her to heal childhood trauma, OCD, unhealthy behaviors, and relationship wounding; hard-earned lessons from some of the most heartbreaking places on the planet; and many other unforgettable teaching stories.
"When we heal the fractured parts of ourselves and learn to love who we are and the journey we’ve embarked upon", writes Seane, "we will see that same tender humanity in all souls. This is the revolution of the soul." And with this audiobook, you're invited to be a part of it.
An unabridged recording, read by the author.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.
Critic reviews
“Seane Corn took me by the hand and led me into so much more than a yoga practice. She guided me through my body, into my mind, and into an appreciation for the sound of breathing, the people around me, and for my own two feet. She is a gift.” (Sally Field, Academy Award®-winning actress, director, and New York Times best-selling author of In Pieces)
“Seane’s passionate, tough, compelling, honorable, healing dharma story will touch your heart...and inspire the real yogi in you.” (Jack Kornfield, PhD, author of A Path with Heart)
“Love this book. Like Seane herself, the message is direct, honest, funny, heartfelt, and filled with wisdom that can help all of us, except me, do better, be better, and work toward creating a healthier and more peaceful planet for all.” (Larry David, actor, writer, director, producer of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld)
“Holy hell, do we need a world-wide love revolution! After reading Revolution of the Soul, I am more convinced than ever that we can have it: but only if we begin with ourselves. Revolution of the Soul is heart-wrenchingly vulnerable, relentlessly honest, and refreshingly hilarious. With every personal story, Seane wrangles the power of yoga down from the clouds and into our ordinary relationships, hardships, and bodies. Then she shows us how to use that power to heal ourselves and the world. Seane is a master teacher, one of my favorite human beings, and a hell of a writer. I am a better person for having read this book.” (Glennon Doyle, founder of Together Rising and author of the number-one New York Times best seller Love Warrior)

There has never been a Yoga book like this...
Seane Corn's memoir/yoga tutorial may well become part of Western Yoga's standard reading library, (albeit for grown-ups). While the entertainment value of this book is probably its least relevant characteristic, because it is 10 hours long, I feel it is important to say how attention grabbing and compelling a listen it is. This is due to the engaging and accessible writing style, relevant content and the very passionate delivery from the author herself!
Tracing her spiritual growth, from her suburban childhood to the present day, as a world recognized yoga teacher, social activitist and thought leader, Seane's life story is intertwined beautifully with a clear and organized presentation of yogic concepts, philosophy and techniques for transformation of the mind/soul. Illustrating her own soul revolution with intimate, personal stories brings the teachings to life and sends them straight to the listener's heart. And although one of the major messages of the book is to "ignore the story, see the soul", her story and the stories of the individual "angels" that helped her on her journey are impossible to forget. I sometimes found myself laughing and crying at the same time!
At the end is a call to action; an offering for a way out of our current world political, social and environmental climate. I think it could actually work!
I whole-heartedly recommend this book for any serious spiritual seeker interested in the yogic path; required reading I would say. One word of caution though: this is definitely a book for adults. A lot of the content, stories and language are raw in their stark truth. These aspects are inherently necessary and appropriate to the message and meaning of the book, however, I would give it a PG-17 rating....

Unexpected!
This book touched my heart in unexpected ways and is not for the prudes, chauvinists, or judgmental. Open your mind and heart and hear the words. Although my life’s path was very different from Seane’s, I found connections to her stories and words in so many ways. I was raised on a farm in a deeply religious family... so different from Manhattan, but still eerily similar. No, I wasn’t molested, and I didn’t work in a gay club, ... but the human experience is similar. I ran from religion, and was a little uneasy with how many times she mentioned “God”. I wrestled with the unease and found that it doesn’t matter what we call it. Love, the universe, God... it’s all the same. I learned that I have a lot to learn. I learned that my yoga mat is not just for stretching my body, but also my mind. This book made me want to dig deeper. As for the review I read about her being tied up in her own ego: she was sharing her story. Stories help us to understand. As a teacher, I see the value of stories. Jesus did too. I listened to this book and when I finished it, I immediately bought the hard copy. Thank you, Seane Corn, for being such an inspiration and a light for our troubled world.

A book we can all benefit from, particularly necessary for those of us who serve. Blunt and compelling, Seane’s stories are deeply heartfelt, every single one of them. It’s my hope and prayer that everyone who experiences this book gets shook to the core to start the revolution of their own soul.

This is a very special book.
Seane Corn is telling the truth in this book—in big and courageous ways. I've read so many books in self-help and spirituality, and I've never seen an author reveal the inner workings of their spiritual path with such raw truth—the way that Seane does in REVOLUTION OF THE SOUL. Seane's stories of healing read like I'm watching a movie play on a screen, and each story is giving me courage to go deeper into my own healing path. This is a very special book and one that will call you forth into your own awakening. Buy it. Read it. Share it. This is a must-read text for anyone on a spiritual path.

Not quite the revolution I was expecting
I guess I had high expectations since this was recommended by two of my yoga instructors. However I really struggled to listen to this book and to read it. There were several good points made, however you had to listen to lengthy dissertations on how Sean was a wild child to get to any golden nuggets. We’ve all made mistakes and done things we’re not proud of - but be brief in explaining and share the lessons- not the recipe for disasters.

I listened to this audiobook in just a few days and cried and laughed throughout. Im fascinated by the life journeys of other people but was particularly drawn to this book to hear about the journey of a yogi. I loved Seane's stories, her courage and raw honesty is incredible. I feel completely inspired to deepen my own yoga practice, for the benefit of myself, my loved ones and consequently the world. Thank you Seane, you're a blessing to humanity.

Interesting in parts
This was a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed the beginning and the end but the middle left me wishing the time away.

Does What It Says in the Title!
An absolutely fantastic listen. The whole book is a roller coaster of emotions, I felt bereft once it had finished and completed it in one listen I was so engrossed, I've yet to find another listen that has had the same impact, and have subsequently listened to it twice over.
Seane narrates with the raw emotion she wrote with, you will not be able to pause it. Definitely recommended whether you're a Yoga Student or Teacher or not, you will not be disappointed. Find a quiet space, make yourself a cuppa, settle on the sofa and prepare yourself for an amazing journey, ensure you have tissues, it will make you laugh as much as it will make you cry.
Enjoy!

Beautiful, Touching and Practical
At first I wasn’t sure, I had never heard of Seane Corn before, but this book was absolutely amazing. The further I got into the book the more I couldn’t stop listening. It was so nice to hear Seane’s story through a yogic perspective and I believe we heal a little ourselves, through hearing each other’s stories this way, when shared so vulnerably and from the heart. I laughed, I cried, I felt like I was there experiencing it with her. I could not recommend this book more highly, for all seekers and women in yoga. Thank you Seane.

Force yourself to read past the first 5 minutes
This book starts slow, I almost turned it off when she said holy 100 consecutively times. Fortunately my wife had recommended it for me, so I listened on. The further in you go the better it gets, she's quite a remarkable women and has some incredible lessons to share.

Take a good, hard look at yourself
Seane's honesty is breath taking, articulate, powerful, passionate and thoughtful. Gave me PLENTY to think about during this Covid-19 confinement. I am grateful for her deep dive.

Raw, honest and without BS!
One thing i loved most about that book is that Seane is brutally honest and hasn’t fallen into spiritual bypass where most of todays “spiritual” people are. But most of all, thank you Seane for that amazing work, loved it.
One love, one.
