Return of the Spider is the stunning companion to Along Came a Spider, the New York Times bestselling series debut that introduced Detective Alex Cross, “the real deal, a character who matters” (Rolling Stone).

The suspense classic Along Came a Spider introduced an unsurpassed rivalry:
Detective Alex Cross; the “human superhero” (New York Times) versus Gary Soneji; the "most deliciously wicked character since Hannibal Lecter” (Lexington Herald-Leader).
But that wasn’t their first meeting...
Police discover that Soneji kept a murder book, Profiles in Homicidal Genius, detailing his transformation from substitute teacher to hardened serial killer—including clues that imply missteps that Alex Cross may have made a rookie homicide detective.
Now, Alex must retrace the steps of that long-ago investigation and face…the Return of the Spider.

Enter the world of the #1 bestselling detective series behind the #1 streaming show Cross.

I have never been a person who reread books. I just retired this year at 73. I have read the Alex Cross series all since the summer. I very much appreciate the connecting of the Alex Cross series over time. This story is pulling on me to reread the story as a very in-depth and lengthy narrative. I will probably find myself starting at the beginning noting what piece of the overall puzzle I missed. I wonder if he wrote the books from the beginning as a good narrative. Or did each puzzle piece just paint itself, only realizing later that they were birthing the overall story with “Return”? Thank you for the hours of pleasure I have spent with you. It’s been a great way to start my retirement.

End of the beginning to end.

I always enjoy Mr Patterson's writing and this one blew my mind! Seriously, I had to stop the performance at one point and collect myself. Thank you sir!

Just WOW!

why does he pause every time he says that? it's getting really annoying. Samson......said. Ugh

I think that this was a great book to listen to. I had actually forgotten what Along Came a Spider was about but in listening to this, I really got caught in the web of Gary Soneji (sp). and my memory started coming back regarding him. I was also really grateful to get a look into the life of Maria. She really was a great character & a great wife to Alex. I feel like the book went by way too fast and I felt myself wanting more. Maybe I’ll start the Alex Cross series all over! I think this book will be a hit and I recommend it, especially to all the Alex Cross lovers out there! Happy Reading and Listening! 😊📚🎧

Great suspense and reintroduction into some old characters.

The AC series books are always great, no complaints there. However, Dion Graham is an AWFUL narrator. Virtually unlistenable. His cadence is weird and distracting. He takes great pregnant pauses between words at the end of sentences for no reason. His female voices sound like a layperson doing an imitation of a hysterical woman. One of his male voices sounds like Pee Wee Herman; another sounds like Adam Sandler doing the “Scuba Steve” voice from Big Daddy. It’s absolutely awful. I’m giving 2 stars for performance only because Fred Berman is amazing and I could listen to him recite a phone book. Overall, I’d skip the audio version of this book if you can.

Love the Alex Cross series; HATE the narrator
