Enjoyed this story

I enjoyed the story, and the male narrator was awesome; however, I felt the female narrator’s voice seemed much too old for the characters. I think the narrator is great, but I didn’t believe she was the right voice for this book. I’m sorry to write this, as I did enjoy the story, but the narration mismatch was a major distraction and really affected my enjoyment of the story. I just wanted to give honest and helpful feedback. The book was enjoyable otherwise.

UPDATED VERSION WITH A NEW FEMALE NARRATOR 5 STARS

I was hesitant to listen to this book because of poor reviews for the female narrator, but once I found out it has been updated with a new female narrator (one of my faves) I took a chance. I'm so glad I did. A beautiful story with wonderful performances from Kelsey Navarro and Tim Paige.

Uncomplimentary Narrators

I was very curious for Brute and Lilly's story and the story itself was good but unfortunately the narration took away from the story. I was okay with the male narrator but the female narrator was hard to embrace. Her voice didn't match the age bracket of the characters, Her voice seemed much too mature for a forty year old woman. I kept picturing Louise Fletcher from the 80's movie version of Flowers in the Attic. Because if this it has taken me weeks to complete this book. Her voice may be better suited for a different type of book.

Story is fine, but that narrator.

I’m sorry to agree with many of the reviewers. Ms. Rennie’s performance was underwhelming. Her voice sounds MUCH more mature to me than the character she portrayed in this story. Some scenes were almost unbearable to listen to because of that mismatch. Additionally, her range seems limited- Chopper sounded 12 years old. Lily sounded 15, especially when she whines out Brut’s name. Finally, there’s a lot of inner dialog and it was difficult to discern if what Ms Rennie was saying was that or actual speech with or to another character.

Tim Paige, on the other hand, I enjoyed.

The female narrator was horrid

OhMyGoodness!! The female narrator about drive me insane. Over acting, her voice, the way she made lily sound like a whiney teenage girl. Made her sound angry, even during the sex scenes. Ugh...re-record the female narrator please.

Female narrator distracts from this book

the female narrator voice is annoying, lacking in differentiation between characters. I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to this novel as I enjoyed the previous two novels in the series. male narrator does a good job, but I can't listen to the rest of the novel with the female narrator & this is only the second time I've not made it through a buck. and I have listen to over a hundred books on Audible. I am sorry that Tim Paige has to be lumped with a 1-star rating when it is not meant for him it is meant for Anneliese

Some mistakes in our youth can blind us to chances

Beautiful romance about a boy and girl and mistakes that were made 22 years ago that changed their lives completely. Now the adult couple find each other and the romantic love they shared, but they have to learn to communicate in words and deeds in order to find their true selves and each other. Lots of unexpected details emerge and I dearly loved the fumbling characters as they found their way !

Blah…

I wanted so bad to listen to this but the narrators were so bland I couldn’t get past chapter 6. The story line sounded so good but there was no emotion in the voices I just couldn’t listen. I will think twice about trying another listen with either of these narrators. On a good note I can read the book

Great book

Good story, except....
To any and all romance authors out there that may read this review...
Please stop the 5 minute inner monologue when someone asks them a question and they then lie in their answer. They think all the right things and then lie to whoever which ruins everything.
I understand there needs to be a way to create drama, (for the book) but damn, it’s infuriating to know they know what they should be doing and saying and still choose otherwise.

Worse female narrator ever

I am so disappointed that I could not enjoy this story to it's conclusion. That is how awful the female narrator is. After listening to thousands of audible books over the years, I have heard some pretty lousy performances. This one takes the cake. Do not waste a credit. However please check out all of LB Dunbar other audible books, they are wonderful.
