Publisher's Summary

They fight without conscience or remorse. Their only job is to kill. They are the most ruthless enemy we have ever faced. And they are one millionth our size. When Dr. Lou Welcome fills in last minute for his boss at a national conference in Atlanta he brings along his best friend, Cap Duncan. But an accident turns tragic when Cap injures his leg while running. Surgeons manage to save the leg, but the open wound is the perfect breeding ground for a deadly microbial invader committed to eating Cap alive from the inside out.

Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, a teenaged girl is fighting for her life against the same bacteria. The germ is resistant to any known antibiotic and the government scientist tasked with finding a cure has been kidnapped. Turning to the Centers for Disease Control for help, Lou Welcome uncovers a link to a shadowy group known as One Hundred Neighbors that has infiltrated our society and is using our health institutions as hostages.

Like the deadly germs they can unleash, One Hundred Neighbors will stop at nothing to further their agenda. From the hospital corridors where anything you touch can mean your end, to the top corridors of power in this race against time, Lou must stop an epidemic, save his best friend, and face even his own most terrifying demons.

From the New York Times best-selling author comes another heart-stopping thriller that will make you look at the world around you in a new and frightening way.

Almost Gave Up On This Book in the First Hour But

Any additional comments?

I was ready to give up on this book in the first hour. It read like a text book on bacteria. I am really glad I didn't as it turned out to be one of the best books I have listened to in a long time.

Another Michael Palmer Great!

Resistant is a must read if you like Michael Palmer, since it is his final book. He doesn't disappoint! And the narrator was great, which is a plus. Loved it! 5 stars!

Rehashed old theme,transparent plotting,amateurish

This is an old story told by an average writer, then poorly edited. It is redundant, repetitive, exhibits poor character development and clumsy plot organization, and cliched.

What did you love best about Resistant?

Thought this was a good book. Negative reviews are unfair, especially if person had not read all books in series. Enjoyed the characters woven into the story line.

Book flowed along.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Bringing out the various characters

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, if it were possible

Any additional comments?

Look forward to book four

"Reasonabley Resistant"

Certainly not a literary masterpiece, in fact, far from it. I reads along at a fair pace and is written in a straight forward workmanlike manner, which does not excite one for its skills in prose. Nevertheless, it was an OK book in it's genre, without getting too excited about it. I occasionally enjoy these types of semi medical sci fi stories about killer bugs, and if you do too, you will probably enjoy this well performed book as well.

Ham Fisted

That's an old term for a guy who is all muscle and no brain. Unsubtle. Obvious.

To that add 'verbose'. The author blabs on and on and on about absolutely pointless details. You might think, "Oh, but he's establishing the scene, the feel, adding richness to the story." You would be wrong. He had an amazing ability to tell us things we do not care about at all.

There is no "richness" to this story. This book is the rare example of a book that I did not finish. My wife tried, too. She quit.

Maybe "ham fisted" says too much. Perhaps the review should have been title, Sucks.

Good story but overly dramatic narration

The book was well written and I enjoyed the main character. The narration was a bit dramatic but not so much that I couldn't listen.
