Publisher's summary

"I don't need you to rescue me."

Tiberius "The Beast" Caulville is the bad boy of the NFL: an arrogant PR nightmare who doesn't care about his public image. But when an off-season fight lands him in hot water, he's forced to hide out in Hidden Creek and clean up his act with the help of the one person who doesn't buy it.

Caleb Brower has lived in the shadow of his manipulative ex-boyfriend for years. One breakout client will give him the freedom he needs, if he can withstand that client's outrageously inappropriate behavior. But Caleb is used to entitled athletes, and can tell there's more to Ty than the mask he wears.

Volunteering at his uncle's dog rescue could save Ty - or bury him under the fears he thought he'd left behind. Caleb can't help being drawn to the broken man beneath the bluster, and soon business gets personal. Can he show the rest of the world the sweetheart Ty really is?

Welcome to Hidden Creek, Texas, where the heart knows what it wants, and where true love lives happily ever after. Every Men of Hidden Creek novel can be enjoyed on its own, but keep an eye out for familiar faces around town! This audiobook contains a pair of irresistible rescue dogs, a Beast who's really a softie, and plenty of healing for two lost souls.

4.5-starred story of love and absolution

Rescue is the third audiobook in the multi-authored fourth season of the Men of Hidden Creek series and is written by Alison Hendricks. Like the two previous audiobooks in the series, this one is narrated by the talented Nick J. Russo, who is admittedly one of my favorite voices out there. Russo's definitely brought even more life to Hendricks's story of a professional football player with a bad boy reputation on and off the field and the publicist who tries to not just put a positive spin on a negative story but to actually get to know if there's more to his new client than meets the eye. This may be a bit over eight hours long, but with an engaging story like the one found here, time definitely flew by as far as I was concerned.

Tiberius Caulville has more than earned his nickname of "The Beast" and he's no stranger to getting his name and reputation dragged through the mud by the press and the public. However, Ty's latest PR nightmare forces his agent to insist that he take a much-needed break on the property of his uncle in Hidden Creek, Texas. In need of a new publicist, Ty doesn't need the old song and dance from applicants, but that isn't what he gets when Caleb Brower enters for his interview. The guy doesn't hesitate to speak his mind, which is exactly what Ty wants. It doesn't hurt that Caleb also happens to tick all his boxes in a guy he's interested in personally. Helping with Ty's uncle's dog shelter may be exactly what Caleb can use to help Ty's public image, but the more time he spends with the man, the more he's drawn into getting to know the private side.

Both Ty and Caleb were men who seemed to have pretty well-together lives, but there's a side to them that's been damaged by experiences in their respective pasts. I liked getting to know them beyond who they seemed to be, and the whole aspect of the dog rescue was something that touched my heart given my love of dogs. I also appreciated that while the attraction between them was apparent and very mutual, there wasn't this immediate jumping into bed together. These two needed to establish trust and respect with each other, just like they had to do with the dogs. Alison Hendricks did a great job coming up with a touching story about love and absolution and Nick J. Russo impressed again with his narration. 4.5 stars for Rescue. ♥

Ty broke my heart

I really liked Ty and Caleb. I so understood where TY was coming from with beginning closed off and keeping that tough hard exterior. His father was an absolute POS. What he put Ty through was so wrong. Caleb has a POS ex, Kevin, who he had worked with, knew exactly how to build him up and then tear him down. He has quit his job and is now trying to make a name for himself. He takes on the job to fix TY’s public image. Ty is known as the beast and all the public sees is the violence on the field and off. He is in some serious trouble as he was recorded beating a man. He then accepts what he is being accused of. Our boys are staying at Ty’s uncles home who has a ranch and a no kill dog shelter. While they are working at both, Ty starts to overcome some of his fears. Caleb starts digging into who Ty really is under that hard shell. Of course Kevin shows up and starts causing trouble. I love seeing the boys grow to fall in love and find the HEA. I have not read any of the other books in the series but, I will most definitely be fixing that.

I love Nick J Russo, he always does a great job narrating the stories.

Enthralling

In Hendricks "Rescue" we meet Ty and Caleb. Instant heat between the two leaves the reader holding their breath, but there is more to this story than just the fantastic dynamic between these two. I really found myself absorbed in the storyline. Enchanted by the evolution of these characters and really loved this narration by Russo. This was absolutely one to have for a quiet day.

Beautiful story!

Very well written story that deals with a lot of real life issues, some harder than others. I love how the author showed that there are so many different types of abuse, even those that don't seem like abuse on the surface. She did a good job of showing how difficult getting over those things can be. Hope had me in tears, my daughter as a rottweiler that is a big ole baby so that part was a little hard to read but I was so glad to see Hope get her happy ending just like Ty and Caleb. By the middle of the book I was ready to throttle Kevin and was so ready for him to get what he deserved. I would have liked to have seen Caleb get rid of that worm sooner than he did but again it was an excellent example of what emotional and mental abuse can do to a person. Should he have been able to tell Kevin to kiss off sooner, maybe, but each person deals with abuse differently. Another thing I like about this author's writing was that the little bit of angst occurring between Ty and Caleb is handled quickly and not allowed to drag on so long that it got irritating. Excellent addition to this series and I can't wait for the next one. The narration was wonderfully done by Mr. Russo!

I love this story!

I love the characters; I love how accurate their reactions are when you consider their backstories; I love how emotions are the hardest thing for them. And I love the dogs. Yes, I most certainly love the dogs :P

But be aware, this story is an emotional rollercoaster, with themes of abuse all along with it. But, oh! so worth your time!

And Nick J. Russo does an excellent job with the narration.

A dog lover’s delight

This is the third book in Season Four of Hidden Creek, a series set in a fictional town in Texas where people come to heal. Tiberius “The Beast” Caulville is such a man. He’s an enforcer in the NFL and known on and off field as a beast. He takes his role seriously but all is not as it appears. His latest fight has landed him in some hot water with both the league and the law – if he doesn’t rehabilitate his image quickly and effectively then his career might be over.

Enter Caleb Brower, Public Relations guy, looking to make a name for himself. He’s been working with a manipulative man for a number of years who also happens to be his ex-boyfriend. He wants to put distance from that relationship and surely chasing a potential client from Atlanta to Hidden Creek Texas counts as an effective way to make his way out from the shadow. He has to prove himself and landing Tiberius as a client would go a long way toward accomplishing that goal.

Both men have a lot to lose if this working relationship doesn’t work out which means both of them need to keep it professional – right? But the chemistry is immediate because each man has what the other seems to want. Ty likes it a little rough and enjoys being the dominant partner. Caleb likes it when his partner takes the lead even though that sometimes makes him feel weak. Both men are also going to have to learn to communicate effectively if they’re going to make this relationship work – both professionally and personally.

To rehabilitate Ty’s image, Caleb looks to find the softer side. And, for Ty’s part, after initially fighting, he comes to see the benefits. As he ruminates: He could do this. He could show the world the softer side of the beast and in doing so prove he had a place.

Enter the dogs.

I was able immediately to tie the second book into this third one and was thrilled to see Bolt the dog’s origin story. There are other dogs who play a good sidekicks including Copper the digger. All puppies are curious, to be sure, but this little guy won my heart but not just his antics but by his stubborn unwillingness to go ‘down’ on command. My little one is the same way – great with ALL other commands except ‘down’. Stubborn dog.

But I digress. The dogs bring out something in Ty and even Caleb is surprised as Ty shares more and more of his personal history. All is not as it seems and Caleb is determined to get to the truth, not matter the cost. Ty believes the price is too high and that others might get hurt and that’s something he can’t allow – he’s a protector through and through.

There are some tough moments to take in the book related to the dogs but everything works out in the end. Warmed my animal lover’s heart. And the epilogue? Really well done.

Nick J. Russo is the narrator for this series and I think he was a great choice. He carries the characters and stories bringing consistency and great quality. Another great read and as a dog lover, it has a special place in my heart

Sweet

What a sweet story, I felt so sad for Ty and his childhood experiences. I think Ty and Caleb was great for each other.

No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings
Good dialogues
Steaming hot love scenes
Characters is developed in to realistic personalities
Storyline progresses steadily with some drama but not to much.

Narrator:
Clear pronunciation and read with feelings.

I enjoyed this mm romance very much. 5 stars overall.
