In this eerie and suspenseful YA, a teen girl discovers what connects her to the hotel she calls home as horrifying visions lead her to the truth.

Nell Martin is moving again, this time to the Winslow Grand Hotel, built in 1878. As Nell is settling in, strange things begin to happen. Doors lock of their own accord, writing appears on bathroom walls - and most horrifying of all - visions of a dead boy permeate her waking life. Thinking it was her mind playing tricks on her, she soon finds the past and the present colliding as she learns horrific details of a murder that happened at the hotel in 1907 involving a girl named Lea.

Nell and a mysterious bellboy must relive that day in hopes of finally breaking a curse that imprisons them both. And Nell discovers what truly links her to the history of the Winslow Grand Hotel.

I loved this book from page one! the author had a way of painting images in your mind and keeping you interested from start to finish. The only thing I am disappointed about is that it's over. This is definitely one of those books you miss when it's finished. It is well worth the listen/read!

Loved the book.

I absolutely loved this story!!! Everything about it was perfect. Just the perfect amount of suspense

Great book

I throughly enjoyed this book. Anybody who enjoys time travel romance, or the movie/book Somewhere in Time will love this. The dialogue was very heart felt and believable. The story was somewhat predictable for the first half of the book but the second really surprised me. The narration was fantastic....for the most part. The narrator for Lea felt a bit overly dramatic in the beginning of the book, but that type of storytelling paired really well with the intensity of later scenes. Still the narrator for Nell was more enjoyable to listen to overall. This had just the right amount of horror for me as well. I'm not a huge fan of things that will keep me up at night. This was creepy and haunting without being overly so. Definitely worth the read and one of my favorite books I've read (or in this case listened to) as of late.

Some of my favorite tropes, reimagined.

Many people are griping about the narration. They are entitled to their opinions, however I found it well read and very fitting. This story is fun, a little scary, and definitely worth the time. Enjoy!!

Sweet and satisfying read. Narrator did a fantastic job, allowing the listener to easily picture varying characters with the voices used.

Sweet

my only complaint is the narrator yelling all through one characters dialogue. I mean she did great with all the rest of it and I'm all for a little bit of dramatics when needed but that was just overboard. I really enjoyed the story though I literally didn't put it down.

very different, couldn't put down.

I don’t know how this doesn’t have more reviews! What a fun story. I was getting Titanic, The Haunting, The Shining, Practical Magic and Anastasia vibes all in one. This was so beautifully written, I could see every scene as it played out. There are some complaints about the dual narration but I enjoyed it. Lea’s life was awful, why are we surprised the voice actress was passionate in her performance?? I thought they voiced the characters well. The ending wasn’t explained in more depth but I didn’t think it needed to be. All in all, super fun read. I will be waiting patiently for more from this author.

So good

The story is great absolutely loved
it, but I could not believe how horrible the narration for Lea was. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and never heard anything like this. It was that bad that my husband actually asked me to turn the book off as he could hear it in the other room and it gave him anxiety, he literally asked me if the lady who was reading was about to have a breakdown . I was about to not finish this book but then realized that part two was without this narrator, thankfully I finished the book and the story was great, so was the second narrator! Would I recommend this book? The book yes, but not the audiobook.

Great book, absolute horrible narrator for Lea

Grand Hotel setting, a curse, jumping back and forth in time, likeable characters, and an awe-inspiring love- loved all of the above. Like many others, felt the narration was a bit screamy and sometimes the tone didn't seem to match the intent of the words. I also thought the author could have been SO much more creative about breaking the curse. All in all, a cute and entertaining story.

Enjoyable read, despite its imperfections

I started listening to fall asleep, but was intrigued enough I decided to listen while fully cognitive. I love how the story unfolds taking you back in time and not leaving you clueless about past events. at times I though I could predict what would happen next and was pleasantly surprised when things didn't go the way I predicted definitely a new favorite and will look into buying a hard copy.

absolutely love it
