Publisher's Summary

In this eerie and suspenseful YA, a teen girl discovers what connects her to the hotel she calls home as horrifying visions lead her to the truth.

Nell Martin is moving again, this time to the Winslow Grand Hotel, built in 1878. As Nell is settling in, strange things begin to happen. Doors lock of their own accord, writing appears on bathroom walls - and most horrifying of all - visions of a dead boy permeate her waking life. Thinking it was her mind playing tricks on her, she soon finds the past and the present colliding as she learns horrific details of a murder that happened at the hotel in 1907 involving a girl named Lea.

Nell and a mysterious bellboy must relive that day in hopes of finally breaking a curse that imprisons them both. And Nell discovers what truly links her to the history of the Winslow Grand Hotel.

Worst Narrator Ever!

Whichever of these women did the voice Lea needs to find a new job. Everything was breathless and on the edge of an emotional breakdown every time she spoke.
I thought the other reviews were harsh, and decided to give it a chance.
Holy crap, that was TERRIBLE.

Great Story but....

I had a very difficult time listening to Lauren Ezzo. Eileen Stevens did a wonderful job, as always. Lauren Ezzo’s presentation almost made me stop listening. I am glad I stuck with it as eventually she was done narrating. If Eileen Stevens has narrated the whole book I would have given the performance 5 stars.

Some of my favorite tropes, reimagined.

I throughly enjoyed this book. Anybody who enjoys time travel romance, or the movie/book Somewhere in Time will love this. The dialogue was very heart felt and believable. The story was somewhat predictable for the first half of the book but the second really surprised me. The narration was fantastic....for the most part. The narrator for Lea felt a bit overly dramatic in the beginning of the book, but that type of storytelling paired really well with the intensity of later scenes. Still the narrator for Nell was more enjoyable to listen to overall. This had just the right amount of horror for me as well. I'm not a huge fan of things that will keep me up at night. This was creepy and haunting without being overly so. Definitely worth the read and one of my favorite books I've read (or in this case listened to) as of late.

Unexpected

Great listen. Unexpected and unique. Can't wait to read/listen to more from this author.

Enchanting! A must-read!

Excellent! This is a love story for the ages. The romance is so sweet and the ghost story is just spooky enough to keep things interesting. Twists and turns abound in the reading. This one kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. Other than that, going into the plot any more would give too much away. The narrators were lovely and really brought the characters to life. I found myself truly caring about who I was supposed to and despising who I was supposed to as well. My only complaint is that the chapters didn’t match the chapters in the book, but that is a small complaint for an otherwise beautiful book. I highly recommend for all teen romance and ghost story lovers! You won’t be disappointed.

Is it worth it (Audible Review)

This story was very engaging and the storyline was excellent until you get to the end. I just had so many questions and it felt incomplete. like really that's all she had to do and she didn't figure that out lifetimes ago!
If she indeed changed the past, why was she there now? shouldn't the story have ended with her surviving the fire and living out her days with her love? What actually started the curse in the first place? Just one mans need for control and revenge? I still just have so many questions but this book was good and again engaging but the ending could use some revamping.

Great story

Very fun book, good idea. I thought towards the end there was a few choices that could have been different but overall it was good. One of the characters voice was too animated and I would have to turn the volume down but otherwise was good.

Surprisingly good read.

I really enjoyed the story. It was not a premise I had ever read before. I absolutely love the narrator Lauren Ezzo.

Enjoyable read, despite its imperfections

Grand Hotel setting, a curse, jumping back and forth in time, likeable characters, and an awe-inspiring love- loved all of the above. Like many others, felt the narration was a bit screamy and sometimes the tone didn't seem to match the intent of the words. I also thought the author could have been SO much more creative about breaking the curse. All in all, a cute and entertaining story.
