Publisher's Summary

Biblical Christianity is more than just another private religious view. It's more than just a personal relationship with God or a source of moral teaching.

Christianity is a picture of reality.

It explains why the world is the way it is. When the pieces of this puzzle are properly assembled, we see the big picture clearly. Christianity is a true story of how the world began, why the world is the way it is, what role humans play in the drama, and how all the plotlines of the story are resolved in the end.

In The Story of Reality, best-selling author and host of Stand to Reason Gregory Koukl explains the five words that form the narrative backbone of the Christian story. He identifies the most important things that happen in the story in the order they take place:

  • God
  • Man
  • Jesus
  • Cross
  • Resurrection

Our story begins with God. He created everything, but something went terribly wrong. So God initiated a rescue plan and entered the world that he had made by becoming like us in Jesus Christ. Jesus saved us from the wrongness in ourselves and in the world through his death on a cross. And how people respond to what he did will determine their future, at the final event of history: the resurrection.

If you are already a Christian, this is your story. Do you know it? If you are not a Christian, this is still your story, because it explains the world in a way that nothing else will. It is a true story - the real story behind every other story we hear.

    "Great Book, Bad Editing"
If you could sum up The Story of Reality in three words, what would they be?

    Very Important Message

What three words best describe Gregory Koukl’s performance?

Very good reading but whoever edited it made lots of errors.

    Any additional comments?

In all the audiobooks I have listened to I have never heard so many editing errors. You can tell on multiple occasions where the reader started over because he made a mistake and the person editing it didn't get it pasted back together right.

"Every Christian should have this in their Library."

This was a fantastic book and Greg did a great job of reading it. I think every Christian should have a couple of these books on hand, because it would be a great book to give away to someone that you are sharing the gospel with. I appreciate the fact that this book will be accessible to intellectuals and the laymen alike. it's an awesome book.... Read it or listen to it.

    "Concrete Clear and Concise"

Fantastic book, concrete clear and concise explanation of the Christian Worldview. I would recommend this to all who claim to be a follower of Christ and to the skeptic although it does not go deep into the evidence, it gives good reasons to believe.

"Thoughtful explanation of the world and what went wrong and God's redemption"

Greg Koukl is a brilliant apologist who makes his points in an interesting non-fuddy-duddy kind of way! Sometimes when sharing your faith with someone, it becomes clear that questions that are asked of you require a bit more depth than just a personal testimony. Understanding the reality of our world and God's ever present role in the unfolding of history, brings a richness to our Gospel presentation as well as (and maybe more so) to our own personal lives. The Story of Reality is thought provoking, moving, and a must for anyone interested in more than a go-to-church-once-a-week kind of existence.

"Great Summary of What the Bible States."

I enjoy Greg Koukl anyway but this book is very good. I enjoyed that he summed up the Bible very well. This book represents an overview of what the Bible talks about. How we got here, why we are here and what's next. It doesn't cover everything but a great book for a beginners class.

    "Good listen"

I was very impressed with the author laying out in easy to understand narrative the Christian worldview compared to other worldviews. My only peeve is when an author reads their own book and also reads the foreword, it comes across as patting themselves on the back. It took away from what was a very good audiobook.

"A good book for beginners in the Word"

I feel like this book is a good overview for what to expect from the bible for someone that already believes or is beginning to believe.
I don't, however, think that it is the best tactic to use to try to get someone to come to Christ. As he explains in his other book Tactics (a must read), it is necessary to sort of plant the seed and water it a little first. The overwhelming bias and terrifying nature of the consequences, in my opinion, would be too pushy for a sceptic. I think it's a good book but for that purpose, should be a tool used later in the process.
