Publisher's summary

Biblical Christianity is more than just another private religious view. It's more than just a personal relationship with God or a source of moral teaching.

Christianity is a picture of reality.

It explains why the world is the way it is. When the pieces of this puzzle are properly assembled, we see the big picture clearly. Christianity is a true story of how the world began, why the world is the way it is, what role humans play in the drama, and how all the plotlines of the story are resolved in the end.

In The Story of Reality, best-selling author and host of Stand to Reason Gregory Koukl explains the five words that form the narrative backbone of the Christian story. He identifies the most important things that happen in the story in the order they take place:

  • God
  • Man
  • Jesus
  • Cross
  • Resurrection

Our story begins with God. He created everything, but something went terribly wrong. So God initiated a rescue plan and entered the world that he had made by becoming like us in Jesus Christ. Jesus saved us from the wrongness in ourselves and in the world through his death on a cross. And how people respond to what he did will determine their future, at the final event of history: the resurrection.

If you are already a Christian, this is your story. Do you know it? If you are not a Christian, this is still your story, because it explains the world in a way that nothing else will. It is a true story—the real story behind every other story we hear.

Great Book, Bad Editing

If you could sum up The Story of Reality in three words, what would they be?

Very Important Message

What three words best describe Gregory Koukl’s performance?

Very good reading but whoever edited it made lots of errors.

Any additional comments?

In all the audiobooks I have listened to I have never heard so many editing errors. You can tell on multiple occasions where the reader started over because he made a mistake and the person editing it didn't get it pasted back together right.

Every Christian should have this in their Library.

This was a fantastic book and Greg did a great job of reading it. I think every Christian should have a couple of these books on hand, because it would be a great book to give away to someone that you are sharing the gospel with. I appreciate the fact that this book will be accessible to intellectuals and the laymen alike. it's an awesome book.... Read it or listen to it.

A life changing book

I got recommended this book by a friend & he even purchased the physical copy for me. I was at a place in my life that I didn’t believe in God and dismissed His story completely. After listening to this book I have a clearer understanding of what took place on this earth and a better understanding of God and Jesus. Gregory’s voice is easy to listen to and he puts the story in an easy to understand way for us to digest. Highly recommended!

Concrete Clear and Concise

Fantastic book, concrete clear and concise explanation of the Christian Worldview. I would recommend this to all who claim to be a follower of Christ and to the skeptic although it does not go deep into the evidence, it gives good reasons to believe.

Jesus the savior

Really? Is that the story of reality?
I was happy until the last chapter. I mean, until then, I wasn't really sure what the author position was, but his arguments were strong and made sense. Last chapter was very deceptive as the author pledges for fear and submission to this Jesus, who died to save us, but who seems, after all the suffering and sacrifices, not to have been very successful. Look at us: did we stop wars? Did we stop hating others for their own believes? Are we happier in this 9 2 5 life? We are even rejecting immigrants running for their lives! For the last 2000 years this Christian society only grew in greed.

Don't have Blind Trust

The writer argues that evidence be necessary, with trust, to receive the full blessings of our Savior for all Eternity. Koukl's patient logical explanation of the sin & suffering in our world today helps us to understand reality from God's point of view. When we know why things are broken and that Jesus is the perfect sacrificial solution, then we truly know, "the rest of the story". This book is helpful to comfort Believers, strengthen what parents must teach their children, and provides an honest simple storyline for sharing the full gospel of Christ the messiah.

Loved the compassion

I loved the compassion with which the story is told. He makes it clear that we are all guilty, but we all have a redeemer who has ransomed us.
