Encoded within your body, teaches Caroline Myss, is an energy system linking you directly to the world's great spiritual traditions. Through it, you have direct access to the divine energy that seamlessly connects all life. On Anatomy of the Spirit, Myss offers a stunning picture of the human body's hidden energetic structures, while revealing its precise spiritual code and relationship to the sacred energy of creation.

Our most revered wisdom traditions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Hinduism, hold in common essential teachings about seven specific levels of spiritual development, the stages of power in life. These seven great truths also grace the human body as an energetic system, a spiritual compass pointing the way to the divine. By honoring this inborn code, you can learn to see the symbolic blocks within your energy centers and their correlations with your health, relationships, and spiritual development.

Richly interwoven with research, examples, and self-diagnostic guidelines, Anatomy of the Spirit will take you to the heart of the spiritual life and beyond.

WARNING: THIS IS NOT AN AUDIOBOOK!

What did you love best about Anatomy of the Spirit?

It is a very good two-hour speech.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Anatomy of the Spirit?

It's all memorable, but it should be renamed andhave different cover art.

What does Caroline Myss bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is not an audiobook. It is a speech. I'm upset that the title and the cover art are identical to the book. Audible.com and the publisher are decieving customers. Caveat emptor!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is NOT the book "Anatomy of the Spirit." I would have bought this speech, but I was looking for the audio format of the book. Not happy.

Any additional comments?

I gave this a poor rating because the product is deceiving.

More a sermon, than an audio book

What would have made Anatomy of the Spirit better?

I was surprised to find that this was not a reading of the book, but rather a recorded seminar on the subject of the book by the author. I was disappointed, as I wanted to hear a reading of the actual book, which I am physically reading and thought that the audio version would help the reinforce the information.

How could the performance have been better?

I did not enjoy the author's "preachy" tone. I just wanted to hear a reading of the book, not feel like I was attending a sermon at church. Her dramatic pauses and repeating of sentences for emphasis were too much for me. It became too distracting. The information is good, so I am just sticking to reading the book.

Not the book being read

I was hoping this would be a reading of Anatomy of the Spirit. Instead it was more like an interview/workshop with Carolyn, good information, not nearly as much information as the actual book.

Inspiring and Deep

I read "Anatomy of the Spirit" a few years ago and found much meaning in it then. I have since been guided from time to time to pick it up and again found the help and support that was needed. In this live presentation, however, I feel C.M. personally explores in even greater depth the material in her book. She brings the concepts to life always bringing them back to and framing them within the question, "What does consciousness mean?" I love this audio! I have listened to it over and over and continue, each time, to be moved and inspired by it.

Connections of our Spirit - Belief Systems

This is a very expansive talk relating emotional wellness and spirituality using 3 different "religious" platforms. It crosses 3 different belief systems: Catholic Christianity, Jewish-Kabbalah, and Buddhism/Hinduism. We are now reading the book. If this interests you, you may just want to buy the book, however the teaching that you get from this recording is outstanding. I am on my third time listening to it.
Peace...

Myss is a no nonsense lady!

This format is a great way to digest the information in the book. This is a great format and understanding of the spirit and chakras throughout the different reigious traditions.

Mystical Onanism

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I really, really wanted to enjoy this and try to dip my toe in spirituality as someone who rationalized her way out of Lutheranism as a teen. But spirituality is neither science nor logic, and this author's self-described realizations about mystical and spiritual truths were not particularly convincing or believable to me. Perhaps some of them correspond to other systems of mysticism, but as someone with a science and engineering background, I always remember the mantra that correlation is not causation, and concepts like bidirectional causality (assuming any of this could be true!). I get the concept of faith. But this stuck me as so off the deep end that I was having trouble attempting to suspend my doubt, disbelief, and urge to ridicule for long enough to attempt to put any of this into practice. It screams of New Age Feel-Good Middle-Class Privilege, of which some argue that the whole New Age movement is just an expression.

I do give Ms. Myers credit for her exuberant performance, her passion, and her own self-confidence in this endeavor. If you can buy into this kind of thing and it works for you, maybe it's not so awful. Personally, I prefer slightly less mystical systems such as Buddhism, which is not without its own special flavor of mysticism, but which I find decidedly more stoic and devoid of the trappings of belief while being replete with near-universally accepted ethical principles.

Would you be willing to try another book from Caroline Myss? Why or why not?

Nope. Too fluffy.

Which character – as performed by Caroline Myss – was your favorite?

Ms. Myss herself gave a spectacular performance.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment in the illusion of hope so commonly binge-ingested by desperate baby boomers.

Any additional comments?

Maybe not the best summer reading if you are under 45 or hold a degree in one of the STEM fields.
