Publisher's summary

Book 3 of the series American Apocalypse.

Darkness brought on by criminals, drug addicts, and traitors in the band make life even more difficult. Our hardy band of survivors have at least temporarily solved the basic needs issues and have food, water, shelter, and weapons. Now they must seek out like-minded people to join their mutual assistance group and eliminate the criminals who want to be dictators.

Joe’s Grandma’s letters continue to motivate Joe and help him search for the promised treasure. One find startles the group and promises a safer life. Another find is a major disappointment. Joe loses some people close to him but finds some new friends along the way. Can Joe become the leader the group desperately needs? Will the group survive? Will we learn what happened to the Muslim terrorists?

No headline!!

Why do you people have only 3 out of 4 books available??? I seriously feel like dumping Audible all together!! This is NOT the first time this has happened with Audible, so, don't get real interested in a series until you find out for sure, if they are ALL there to read. Especially at the horrendous prices for a lot of the books!! The truth need to be told!!!!!

Can’t get enough of this series!!!

The series continues with more struggles and introduces more characters. Exciting and captivating book!!! I only wish it had been longer.

Another hit from AJ Newman

AJ has done it again, story is very well written and presented. Newman and Pierce make a great team.
The story line is developing through the series. Seeing how Joe and his team morph into an effective MAG really gives the reader a sense of what maybe needed if a similar event happens in the US.
Looking forward to Coles Saga, seeing Cole and Chloe grow from a teenagers into a accomplished warriors and most of all a responsible team members through the novels really show how some will need to mature and adapt to a changing world.

way too short

why are these books so short? shame. the story is good. However, in the future I might not buy again from this author due to the extremely short books.

This is the best of the 3 in this series so far

Im upset with AJ Newman, because this book is only five and a half hours. The books in this series are written in an average intelligence, he is certainly not a Shakespeare. That said, it's about as entertaining as a television program (movies are more entertaining than television, hence the higher price to attend those). So, if you get what I'm saying, his books are only average, and with the fact that he's only providing this short listening time, it's a crime, imo, for him to be charging so much money to listen to each book.
If I had it to do all over again, I would not have gotten myself into this series, because I resent being asked to pay these prices for a novel that is short, and only average in terms of entertainment and quality. I've been entertained enough, but there are a lot better books and series out there on this subject, and you get a lot better listening time for your money.

As far as the three in this series that I've listened to....this 3rd book is the best of the three.

Not as good as the first book

This was an interesting read on a post apocalyptic society. The series was focused on rape, sex, human trafficking, drugs, and guns. There was more background on the types of guns and ammo than on character build-up. The background on humans being good versus bad seemed naive - people were either good or evil with no in-between.
The series did keep me interested, but not captivated. The performance reminded me of a grandpa telling a story (but not to children, obviously). It was dry, but I found it enhanced the story.
In this book, main characters were dropped without explanation. It left me hanging, expecting that more would be written into certain key characters, but nope. Nothing. If that was the intention of the author, then he achieved it really well.

Disappointed

It was book 1 with nothing new. Do not purchase. Have a feeling book 4 is a repeat of 2.

I have listened to the whole series thus far it's a great book with some realistic trials that the characters face was good character arcs and development I do wish the books had more time to flush out more of the characters

Third Books are hard to keep running quickly

This one did pretty well, but Third books are hard to keep running quickly enough to stay interesting or to keep old characters from getting a little stale.
