Recent scientific and technological breakthroughs have provided us with a new set of equipment which will increase our productivity and efficiency in all areas. Being familiar with this equipment - and knowing how to creatively apply it - is rapidly becoming a matter of business survival and a key to personal gain. But information about the changing technological tools of tomorrow is just the beginning of what you will learn in this exciting program by Daniel Burrus, one of the world's premiere technology forecasters and futurists. Perhaps more importantly, he also explores the spirit and impetus behind these changes, investigating how the business world's mindset is evolving now and will continue during the 21st century. You will also learn:

  • the new rules for success in the 21st century.
  • why the current successes may contain the seeds of future failure.
  • how to foster innovation and move beyond your competition.
  • how to apply technology in new and useful ways.
  • a new and powerful method for "Viewing" and shaping the future.
  • how to become "pre-active" to future-known events rather than reactive to your current dilemmas.
  • positioning for maximum advantage tomorrow.
  • how and why to build a "toolbox" for tomorrow.

Yes

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The ubiquitous idea of Tipping Point might have first started here as he calls it Flashpoint. The 20 core technologies categorization method with the sub - 30 tools and pre-active opportunity seeker concepts can easily be updated for your own reengineering.

Do you think Reengineering Yourself needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

He needs to come up with a 2015 version but this was fun to listen to during several exercise sessions and prompted a lot of new ideas for my career and business coaching practice. he asks many coach like questions to inspire as a catalyst for change and opportunity thinking.

Any additional comments?

I read Flash Forward and this is a more personal perspective of that book. So although many of the ideas were dated because it is a 1990's course I think, it still had transferability and relevance to be utilized today. I would have given it a 4+ star had it used topical predictions for the 2015 and beyond.

Burrus ideas are still relevant after 18 years
