Publisher's Summary

After robbing a bank, the Colter Gang stumble on the scene of the massacre of a Cherokee hunting party by cavalry soldiers intent on "pacification". The sole survivor of the raid is a young Indian baby. Even with a posse hot on their trail, young outlaw, Frank Palmer, refuses to simply leave the child to die from exposure to the cold. He pledges to join up with the gang as soon as he can find a place to drop off the child.

His plans go awry and he finds himself joining a wagon train to avoid the lawmen closing in on him. Still with the baby as his responsibility, he forms close ties with a preacher's family and their beautiful young daughter. Palmer finds it difficult to leave both the girl and his young charge to their fate when the Cherokee target their wagons in retaliation for the massacre. To survive, the wagon train needs the help that only an experienced gunman can provide. But will Palmer take on the impossible challenge as protector of the train or take flight to rejoin his gang?

Good solid western

This is a good western, likable character, and decent story. I think the characters internal narrative is realistic and not dressed up to much. I will be listening to the next story now. The ending of this one sets things up nicely for a series.

AWESOME!!!!

This western was freaking awesome. I cannot wait to start book too. I can only imagine it’ll be just as great as book 1 AM I think there’s a book 3 as good as this book was I hope they are 10 of the books in the series. If you like westerns that have sued them up scenes in it this is not the book for you if you like westerns with trouble in daily life or in this case on the Oregon Trail do you love this book. Frank Palmer who has been in a bank robbing games since his parents got burned up during the Civil War by the union soldiers wants out. After he finds a village with strewn dead bodies of Indians all over he hears a baby crying and tells the gang leader he will find the baby a place to stay and meet them at the rendezvous point. Not being able to tackle this task because of things that happen beyond his control AN because he met the beautiful Anna he decides to keep his new name Mark cross and the baby but it’s not as easy as he thinks. This book is so so good so good!

Enjoyable

I received the audiobook free for a honest review. I grew up on Max Brand and Louis L'Amour so I found this book to be quite enjoyable. Characters were good, nicely developed, story was good. Looking forward to the next book.

I'm finding that I am really enjoying Scott's narration - nice voice, well suited for the story.

Baby Love --a Tie That Binds

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book has all of the features that make a good story: There's baby love, romantic love and friend love mixed with the excitement of the old West.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Frank, aka Mark is the main character in the book. He is a man of honor and commitment that people can look up too. He is a true leader.

Have you listened to any of J. Scott Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to many of J. Scott Bennett's other performances. This one is at the same level that all of his work is: EXCELLENT ! Scott's voice is just perfect in every way for each different character in the story.

Who was the most memorable character of Redemption and why?

Frank is the most memorable because of the many ways he shows the people in the wagon train that he can take charge and protect them from danger.

Any additional comments?

I received this book in exchange for an honest review and all I can add is that I hope to get the rest of the books in this series. I need to know what happens next !!!

Time flies when listening to this Western

I really liked this book. This was a great story of someone who got caught up with the wrong crowd, then sees an opportunity to turn his life around and takes it, all set against the backdrop of the old west. I really liked the main character, Frank Palmer/Mark Cross. In fact, all the characters were well developed and realistic. My only complaint is that the book is so short! Time just flew, so I'm really looking forward to the other books in the series. I listened to the Audible audio version of the book narrated by J. Scott Bennett. I have listened to lots of book narrated by him (he is probably the only narrator I actively search out), and he never disappoints. His voice lends well to western-theme books, as he can sound a little rough for the male characters, and softer for the females (without sounding screechy or high-pitched). His characters are always easy to follow and his narration always adds a lot to the story.

I need to get the next book!!

I enjoyed this book very much! It just wasn't long enough! lol The story was well written and the characters were well formed. I think that had the story been a little longer, we would have had a little more character explanation, but, all in all, it worked just fine. I am looking forward to the next one in line. I want to know a little more about who Frank Palmer really is and who he is going to be. This is the first time for me to listen to J. Scott Bennett as the narrator and I am impressed. He narrates well and the characters were easy to follow. He does a very good job of being 'soft' when necessary for the women and rough and harsh with the men. I'll be watching for more from both the author and the narrator.

Good western story

Short story following Frank Palmer, reluctant bank robber, who finds himself on a wagon train after finding an abandoned Indian baby. Good book, reminds me a bit of alias Smith and Jones, bank robber wanting to go straight.

Well narrated by Scott, he keeps the story moving nicely
