Publisher's Summary

Things I never planned on happening in my life: getting married, being a mother to a house full of kids, and returning to my small hometown in Texas.

I especially never planned on seeing Tucker Monroe again. Sexy smile. Country charm. A man and a life I left behind for a reason.

The only plan I had for myself was my career. My career as a buyer for one of the largest high-end department stores was the only commitment for which I had time. The only one I was willing to make.

Now, being left with no choice but to return to my hometown, I'm finding it hard to remember why I left in the first place. Because all that's on my mind is Tucker. He is just as sexy. Just as charming. Just as dangerous as he used to be....

Lottie

This is the first book by Melissa Ellen I have devoured and I was not disappointed. This is a cute but angst filled second chance romance. I enjoyed it.
Narration was good.

Oh that h!

This started off as a 3.5 Star, then dropped to a 2-Star,then wound its way back up to a 4 Star review.

The beginning is a bit humorous with the h getting ready to dump her current Beau, then the h showed her character once she found out that her mother died.

The first half of the book follows a very self-absorbed h with a confused and somewhat angry H. The H refuses to talk or listen and would rather leave things unsaid or run.

The H does some stupid things as well but the h just cannot seem to get her act together but eventually wakes up. I will definitely read the next book in the series and hopefully the h starts to stand up for herself against her tormentors.

Just okay

Good if you can get beyond what a horrible person Lottie is. I didn't understand why Tucker stayed stuck for her. Eventually HEA which was nice Good narration.

Great characters

A small town and a second chance with the added bonus of a sexy Southern drawl. Redeeming Lottie is a pretty quick listen, and it's got a good balance of sweet and sexy. I loved Tucker almost immediately, but Lottie was a little harder to warm up to. She wants nothing to do with a commitment, but she does a pretty poor job of proving it, and it results in her coming off as kind of wishy-washy at first. Nevertheless, I did warm up to her, and it didn't take long before I was firmly in camp Tucker and Lottie, rooting for their happy ever after.
This is the beginning of a series, and Billingsley may be a small town, but it's loaded with interesting and engaging characters that I definitely want more of. I love a small-town romance, so this series is right up my alley, and I'll be interested to see who's next.
I had the pleasure of listening to this one, and Erin Coker and Ski do an excellent job with the narration. Honestly, I don't think Melissa Ellen could've chosen any better for Tucker and Lottie. They breathe life into these characters and both voices add that little something extra that I always hope for in an audiobook.

Overall enjoyed the story

Didn't care for the male performers female voices! Could have eliminated some of the "f" bombs!! They don't add anything to the story and just feel out of place.

Oh boy

The story was good but the narrators were horrible! Especially the male narrator, good lord, the last few chapters when the drama ramped up, the narration got horrifically BAD!

An enjoyable story

A good story to escape to a small town for a while and enjoy all the problems of smalll town life. likeable characters, except for the town bitch and controlling Dad. Worth a read or listen.
