Publisher's Summary

Pursuing your best friend's dad is never a good idea, but Cameron Motel is feeling reckless. His life is about to change, and Luke is older, attractive...and he represents something Cameron has never had before.

Stability.

Luke didn't mean to get involved with his son's best friend, but Cameron needed a strong hand and Luke was willing to deliver on his promises.

This thing between them is supposed to be a secret, but something as big as love can't stay hidden for long. Then a single phone call sends Cameron farther away from home than he'd ever planned to go, and Luke's subconscious keeps him grounded in the past unable to move on.

Cameron is gone, and to get him back Luke needs to do something big, something bold, something...reckless.

A sweet medium angst, opposites attract, age gap romance!

This was a sweet age gap opposites attract romance.

Evan Carolina performed an amazing audio delivery and narration and really brought the characters to life.
I was blown away by his ability to project different characters do well.
It was truly a transcendent experience listening to his narration.

The author does an amazing job of creating such beautifully flawed characters who are perfect in their own way.
The characters are complex, well fleshed out and so very real.

The writing style was enjoyable and compelling.

Definitely recommend this if you like a sweet contemporary age gap, taboo romance.
I am definitely looking forward to listening to the next in this series!

hot and lovely

I read this book last year and listened to it this week. It's just as wonderful as when I read it. Evan's narration was spot on for Luke and Cameron and he gives a little extra to the performance. I will be listening again!

Good Steamy Read

I enjoyed it but it's not one of my favorite Kate Hawthorne books. There's definitely a good amount of steam and I like the best friend's father trope. Cam and Luke were ok characters but I felt that they didn't communicate well with each other. Neither one talked about important things with the other or took them into consideration. I will say that I really like the tone and cadence of Evan Carolina's voice. His narration felt a bit stiff at the beginning to me though, more like he was directly reading, but after a while it seemed to flow more naturally. His voice as Cam was very well done and I began to like the chapters from Cam's perspective over Luke's. I'm definitely invested in Cherry Creek and look forward to seeing what the other brothers get up to!

Reckless fun!

Heat. Humor. Needy brat. Caring Dom. Hovering brothers. This book was fun to read and just as much if not more fun to listen to. Evan Carolina does bossy nurturer as well as he does petulant submissive. As much as they don’t seem to be, Luke and Cameron are made for each other. (And their appearances — especially Cam — in subsequent books further supports that.) Great start to the very enjoyable Cherry Creek universe.

Age Gap / Best Friends Father

This was a wonderful age gap / best friends father romance. Evan Carolina performed an amazingly and it was so great to hear a new voice that was young enough for the younger MC but also strong enough for a 40 yr old.

Kate Hawthorne has never let me down on her ability to write such fabulous stories.
The characters are complex, well fleshed out and so very real.

I have read this series but I am definitely looking forward to listening to the rest.

Hmmmm..... what to say

I enjoy a good MM story, especially some BDSM and age disparity. Kate Hawthorne has all these elements in her story, but the whole, the gestalt, misses that mark which makes a good book for me. I’m not sorry I spent a credit since the book kept me entertained while taking care of my daily tasks. I wish I could explain more clearly what was lacking.

Deliciously dirty best friend's dad

Not my first Kate Hawthorne book, and definitely not my last. ❤❤❤

The perfect mix of best friend's dad, some lovely kink, and a long-distance dilemma. Ended far to soon. Thankfully book 2 is ready to go.

I would die a happy man listening to Evan Carolina moan sweet, filthy words in my ear every night. Again, thankfully, book 2 is ready to go.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4-5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

A new to me author I will be trying again

3.75 Stars

I didn't know what to expect from this book. I wasn't expecting the D/s dynamic but I was here for it, considering I can't remember reading it from a M/M couple before. Cameron is a bit of a brat and he is attracted and drawn to his best friend's dad Luke. I am interested to read more from Cameron's brothers. I really liked the age gap in this and the steam is on point. Not too heavy despite the dynamic scenes playing out. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Nothing stays a secret.

Cameron Motel practically lives on his own, his father is never home and all of his older brothers moved out as soon as they could! Cameron spends a lot of time at his best friend Eddies house, Its just Eddie and his Dad Luke since Eddie's other Dad and Luke divorced. Cameron starts to flirt with Luke and before long they're in a secret relationship. Evan Csrolina did a great job with the narration. MM, Best friends Dad, Age gap, Kink. Brilliant and naughty plot, binge-listen.

Motel Brothers

This book is the start of the Motel brothers series. Cam is the youngest Motel and has a crush on his best friends dad. When circumstances try to separate them -can they find a way to stay together. I really liked that Cam actually acts like a 18 year old in this. He is young, so we get to see him be a little unreasonable and that was nice to see-though it made me want to smack him a few times. It felt true to the story. Loved meeting all the brothers and can't wait for their audios. This was a my first time listening to Evan narrate. He did a really good job and I'll be listening to more of his work

I really loved this book

Cameron is the best friend of Luke's son, Eddie. The summer before both boys are due to leave for college Cameron decides that he want's Luke. Luke knows he should walk away but Cameron is so insistent and willing, What is supposed to be a secret fling gets messy as feelings get involved. I really loved this book and the narration is spot on, The relationship between the two men is exactly what both need and their separation really tugged on my heart-strings.

Oh Mr Alexander!

I liked this story of young Cameron falling for his best friend's dad. This is the first book in series and a standalone. The story is good with some kinky times and drama but the narrator totally stole the show! And yes, in a good way! All I can think now is Cameron moaning "Mr Alexander!"
I usually like narrators with a deeper voice but this was hands down the hottest character voice in long time!

Insanely hot!

Story: One of the best takes on best friend's Father I have ever read! No only is it scorching hot, but the emotional value of the book is off the charts! Both characters have so much going on and it's so perfectly presented in the story, it was difficult to put the book down! So brilliant!
Narration: Great voice and performance. It was easy to follow the story and tell the characters apart.

wonderful!

What a great start to the series! I really loved the introduction of the 5 brothers in this book. It makes you want to read all the other books right away. Very interesting storyline with the Motel family and the hotel. The chemistry between Luke and Cameron was explosive. I thought that they were both realistic, with strengths and weaknesses and that they really complimented each other. I loved reading their story. The narrator was absolutely fantastic, I thought that the way he voiced the characters was really perfect.

Exciting but confusing!

An author going off-script can be exciting for a reader or it can be confusing, this story is a bit of both. Kate Hawthorne presents Luke as an experienced older dom who is unclear about what he wants and who seems to get overwhelmed by barely 18 yo Cameron, his son’s precocious best friend. Luke fails to establish or enforce rules and ends up looking inconsistent and muddle-headed; weirdly, his biggest rule seems to be ‘no swearing’. We’re on safer ground with Cameron, he’s inexperienced but eager so everything is new and exciting and I could easily forgive his occasional moodiness or lapses in confidence. Despite some scorching scenes, though, I found the overly sexual relationship unsatisfying. It focused on BDSM rather than communication and I felt that Cameron was being asked to run before he could walk: he was often disciplined when all he needed was a hug and some moral support. I know each of Cameron’s brothers get their own book but the inheritance / hotel plot line which links them all seemed improbable. Audio narrator Evan Carolina has a young voice that totally suits Cameron but he sounded stilted and unconvincing as Luke. Based on this book, I’m not sure I’d seek out the rest in this series.

Exceptional

Story and characterisation are brilliant. Narration brings emotion to the story I didn't appreciate the first time I read it.
