Good story but narration leaves something to be desired
The story is pretty good and generally I have enjoyed these books and the characters. However, I am completely perplexed by the narrator. She does most of the characters well except the main one!- Arianna. She reads both the main woman and the narrative in this breathy, whispery sing song manner. The end of a sentence lilts up. What is really disconcerting is that the main character more or less raises herself in the West Indies but has an aristocracy voice. Or if she did, she would not be all breathy and whispery. It’s odd and distracts from the book. The others characters are done fine though very odd.
