Not all days are triumphant moments leading the masses to Jesus. We do not talk openly enough about the adversity and personal struggle fighting your instincts for fame and glory. I wanted to write this book because there are many who talk about the romance of ministry but seldom do we count the cost. There are many who only talk about the victories without the moments you feel kicked in the teeth. It's well past time that churches become facilities without walls. Even better, it’s well past time we become faceless servants with humble hearts. We need to be dangerous and wild, fierce, and free, followers of Christ and servants to our master. We need to not look for our own fame, but only to make Jesus known. I wrote this book with a desire to have honesty. We need to move from an insincere "bro" to a loving brotherhood and sisterhood with our real lives on display.
This audiobook will not be for everyone. It isn't easy being challenged by an imperfect person. If we are willing to admit that there must be more than what we see in the church--without bashing or hating on the bride of Christ--then this book will be a challenge you enjoy. We can live a life like the disciples lived, and it starts with openness and our authentic selves. We all know that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It couldn't be truer in this day and age.
We don't need to make huge life-changing decisions this very moment, but we can start to pray. Start today, right now, and pray for authenticity and openness in your walk with the lord. Tell someone you're on this journey, and share your life with someone. It may be that you share your life with your congregation this Sunday. I've heard too many sermons where you learn nothing about how the word impacted the preacher. Change that in your life. Be open with those around you. People will follow the leader they see leading. If you lead by example with openness, you will soon have a radical revolution of openness in your church.
