Publisher's summary

Kacey Chance said goodbye to her actress dreams to become a private investigator, but now her work is sending her straight into the heart of Hollywood.

Her new assignment takes her undercover, working as a personal assistant to a handsome actor. Someone is trying to destroy his career, and it's up to Kacey to find out who, and why.

Being on set is every bit as fun as Kacey imagined. The case seems easy enough, until she hits a moral dilemma. Exactly how far should an investigator go to discover the truth? Kacey doesn't want to ruin anyone's life, and yet, she finds herself holding secrets that could destroy careers.

Back at the office, the Booker brothers have their own unique approaches to handling delicate secrets. Of course. And then there's Tippy Booker, the supposedly "retired" matriarch of the family, who's always around to drink coffee, look glamorous, and dispense her cynical advice.

Kacey and the Booker family race against time to unravel the twisted mystery of the Ready On Set Drama.

There are plenty of laughs and tons of twists in this feel-good cozy mystery from author Maisie Dean!

No graphic violence, sex, or swearing.
This clean, easy listen is perfect for lunch breaks or relaxing at the end of the day!

Very Enjoyable Cozy

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review and all opinions expressed herein are mine.

This is the third book in the Booker Brothers Detective Agency. I have not read any of the prior books in the series and had no trouble following the story or characters. The book is a stand alone story with no cliffhanger ending.

Here, Kasey is now a detective [having previously been an actress]. She's a bit unsure that she has chosen correctly to leave her acting career behind. She then starts a case involving a well-known TV actor who claims that someone is trying to sabotage his career. Kasey goes undercover as the actor's assistant so she has to go to the set every day - which also starts her thinking about going back to acting. So, will Kasey quit her investigation and try to become an actress? And who is trying to railroad the actors career?

This is a clean and light cozy. Kasey and her friends are likeable and fun. Kasey's crisis in career decisions is completely relateable -- the grass is always greener... -- especially when you have worked so hard towards something you thought was your goal/passion. Very enjoyable.

The narrator did a very nice job. She was bubbly and quirky just as I imagine Kasey.

Great Read

Ready on Set Drama (Brooker Brothers Detective Agency #3) was a great read by Maisie Dean. Kacey is now working undercover as a personal assistant to an actor. Kacey must find out who is trying to destroy his career. I really enjoyed reading Kacey and the brothers trying to figure out who the culprit is. I can’t wait to read more by Maisie Dean.

Each book in the series gets better..............

Ready On Set Drama is the third book in this series featuring Kacey Chance, a former aspiring Hollywood actress now working for a detective agency. I think this book could be enjoyed without reading the other two first, but I highly recommend the entire series if you like a good whodunit mystery with a spunky (somewhat amateur) detective. In this third book, Kacey must work as the personal assistance to a Hollywood actor, so she can investigate what he believes is a whisper campaign designed to sabotage his rising stardom. This leads Kacey to all kinds of funny situations which had me alternating between shaking my head and laughing out loud. This book also focuses on some personal introspection and growth for Kacey as she is exposed to the lure of the career she thought she left behind. If you are looking for a mystery that is free of swearing, sex and violence but packed with plenty of action and fun, you can't beat Kacey Chance.

Marie Hoffman narrates all the books in the series, and her voice and delivery are perfect for Kacey's bubbly, quirky personality. Hoffman doesn't differentiate overly between characters, but she does just enough, so that I always followed which character was speaking. I am anxiously awaiting the release of book four on Audible, and I hope that it is narrated by Hoffman.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for this honest review.

PERFECT TIMING

READY ON SET DRAMA is the third book in the Booker Brothers Detective Agency series. Though each will stand on their own, it is best to read them all and in the order of release

This is the perfect timing for this story in the series. Kacey is faced with her former life as an actress while investigating her newest assignment. She is established as a PI, but starting to feel a longing to return to return to the limelight. The push and pull can be strong.

How about this for a twist in a cozy mystery? There is no body. Nobody died! Instead, this is a straight up investigative job for Kacey on the studio set of a pilot episode of a new show. This story was more about the psychology of sabotage for their client and Kacey’s decision to stay with the firm or return to acting.

I love this series and I’m enjoying every episode. The first paragraph, it was hinted that Kacey will eventually be romantically connected with one of the Booker Brothers. Three books in and we don’t know which one yet. I love the anticipation!

Narration: The narrator is Marie Hoffman and she is one of my favorites. Her voice continues to delight as she provides a perfect reading experience.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Favorite New Series!

So I have read and loved the first two books in the series and this one didn't disappoint me! Kacey is such a fun character I find myself totally engrossed in her story and laughing throughout. It a book you can do in a day or two which is perfect, but now I am definitely looking forward to book 4. The narration is a lot of fun to listen to, Marie Hoffman does a fantastic job. If you are looking for a cleaner version of Janet Evanovich's books then this series it!

Loved it!

I keep loving this series, and this was the best book so far.

Kacey is working undercover on a set, and being back on one brings her doubts about her choices. Is she really willing to leave her aspirations of being an actress behind? Maybe she could try again...

As always, the plot is really well done, and the characters, new and old, are delightful.

And, as it is usual, Marie Hoffman does a superb job with her narration :D

This case involves actors and reputations

Casey is assigned a case to determine if someone is sabotaging an actors career and why. It isn't like the other cases she has investigated and puts her back into show business. She questions her choice to leave acting behind her. She doesn't solve the case until the agency's case is completed.

I enjoyed the book. Casey is more on her own than she has been on her other cases. I received this book from the author and this is my true review.
