I have a lot of experience with dogs, including reactive ones. These guys can always be a challenge and I encounter them every day. I want to give all their owners this book! Wilde talks about socialization, and knowing the difference between fear-based and anxiety reactions - and how to respond to them. She explains how important leash-handling is and more that you didn’t know you didn’t know. If you’ve ever wondered how to handle a difficult problem with your beloved canine, this book is for you!

New ideas and expansions on old ones!

If you own a reactive dog, the information in this audiobook written by Sophie Wilde is invaluable. It contains clear, practical training strategies and opens a window on dog psychology so that you can really understand how your dog thinks and why it does the things it does.

The positive reinforcement methods are straightforward to follow, and most importantly, work! Way better than some of the old methods, which concentrate on punishment. You will learn how to identify what triggers your dog and how to respond with empathy.

No matter where you are in your journey with your dog, this information will help you. It covers anxiety around vet visits, dog fights and dealing with other dogs. It's really comprehensive without getting boring or overloading you with stuff you don't need to know.

The narration by Melinda Wade is spot on and really brings the material to life. She has a wonderful voice and makes the book an easy and relaxing listen.

Highly recommended.

This audiobook really helped me understand reactive behavior. The guidance is practical and easy to put into real situations, especially on stressful days. My friend also has a reactive dog, and I shared some of what I learned with her. She felt hopeful hearing new ideas and was excited to try them with her own pup. This audiobook shows that progress is possible with patience and the right tools, and it offers steady encouragement when you really need it.

A Supportive Guide

I must say, this book really helped me with my reactive dog at home. I'm not an expert, just a normal dog owner, and I could understand everything because the book is written in a simple and clear way.

I finally understand why my dog barks a lot, why my dog pulls on the leash, and why my dog explodes when seeing other dogs. I finally understand that my dog isn’t doing all these on purpose, and the author of the book explains everything clearly and simply.

I must say, when I started to use the advice given by the author of the book, I could see improvements after a while because the walks with my dog are not as stressful as they were before, and my dog is easier to calm down. It’s not a miracle overnight, but I could see the improvements, and I think I could honestly recommend this book to other owners of dogs like mine.

Really helpfull book for my own reactive dog

Reactive Dogs by Sophie Wilde is a clear, kind, and very informative guide for anyone living with a worried or explosive pup. The book explains why reactivity occurs, how our own stress affects the dog, and then walks through practical tools such as TTouch work, clicker training, and simple games that build confidence. I especially appreciated the reminder that dogs need plenty of rest and sniffing time, it made me rethink rushed walks and give my dog more space to decompress. The sections on equipment choices and teaching safer greetings are easy to follow, and the focus on emotional resilience and family communication feels very real. The case stories are encouraging without pretending change is instant.
