When Dr. Ian Dunbar introduced his SIRIUS® Puppy Training in 1982, dog training mostly comprised punishing adult dogs for bad habits and lack of compliance. Good up to date read

As a dog trainer and an avid consumer of books especially dog science books I can say I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was positive only but not in the preachy or attacking way and just showing good ways to implement putting on que and rewarding incompatible behavior. It is a great fundamental knowledge for most pet owners

Read if you love dogs

This is a book that should be in every dog lovers library. This is one of the must haves for anyone who is interested in becoming a dog trainer. Dr. Dunbar wrote the book and it rocks. 

So much more than a training book. Great!!!

Got this for training tips and discovered a treasure trove of information. Way more than just training...even though the training parts are superb.

Dr. Dunbar is training people to train dogs. So, he is training people... That simple insight adds another dimension to the book, which is excellent.

Then, Dr. Dunbar gets into a number of other "dog issues" giving points of view that are important for anyone involved with dogs.

All around a great read, covering a variety of topics in an interesting and clear way. Much more than I expected.

100 percent applicable

This has been tremendous for my confidence as a new puppy owner. Real life examples are fascinating and the whole book is entertaining! Everything is broken into simple gradients.
