A bloody gang war has erupted in the World Heritage designated city of Bath, leading DCI James Carrick to enlist the help of his old friends, husband and wife team Patrick Gillard and Ingrid Langley, late of MI5 and now working for the Serious Organized Crime Agency, to hunt down the criminals. One for the country’s most notorious and feared crime lords, “Uncle”, is spotted in the city, and they are soon embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse to catch him and his gang. As the investigation takes ever more personal and sinister turns, and with Uncle and his associates always one step ahead of the game, can Patrick and Ingrid bring them to justice?

If you could sum up Rat Poison in three words, what would they be?

It is probably a good book, but I am unable to get past the terrible narration. With the exception of the lead female character, everybody sounds like an elderly woman (occasionally someone sounds like an elderly man)...even the teenage kids!! Narrator's voice has a stuffy pretentious overtone that carries over into all the characters' voices.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Story premise seems okay, but I'll get the paper version and re-read.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Patricia Gallimore?

Almost anybody else. Just sorry I can't give this narrator zero star.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

If this narrator were the starring character it would be "Miss Marple in Mission Impossible 5"
