Story
John Grisham is the acknowledged master of the legal thriller. In his first collection of novellas, law is a common thread, but America’s favorite storyteller has several surprises in store. “Homecoming” takes us back to Ford County. Jake Brigance is back, but he’s not in the courtroom. In “Strawberry Moon,” we meet Cody Wallace, a young death row inmate only three hours away from execution. The “Sparring Partners” are the Malloy brothers, Kirk and Rusty, two young lawyers who inherited a once prosperous firm when its founder, their father, was sent to prison.

Nothing ever happened there - until the mayor of sorts (campaign slogan: "I'll Do What I Can") and a buddy come up with a scheme to put Pinion on the map. They'd heard of a place where a floating image of the Virgin Mary had turned the whole town into a shrine, attracting thousands of pilgrims. And all those pilgrims needed food, shelter, all kinds of crazy things, right? They'd all get rich! What could go wrong? When the dead body shows up, they find out, and that's only the beginning of their troubles - and Virgil Flowers'....

Story
An off-duty Coast Guardsman is fishing with his family when he calls in some suspicious behavior from a nearby boat. It's a snazzy craft, slick and outfitted with extra horsepower, and is zipping along until it slows to pick up a surfaced diver...a diver who was apparently alone, without his own boat, in the middle of the ocean. None of it makes sense unless there's something hinky going on, and his hunch is proved right when all three Guardsmen who come out to investigate are shot and killed.

Joe Pickett is the new game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming, a town where nearly everyone hunts and the game warden—especially one like Joe who won't take bribes or look the other way—is far from popular. When he finds a local hunting outfitter dead, splayed out on the woodpile behind his state-owned home, he takes it personally. There had to be a reason that the outfitter, with whom he's had run-ins before, chose his backyard, his woodpile to die in.

Publisher's Summary
John Sandford and Michele Cook complete their New York Times best-selling thriller series in this explosive finale. Fans of James Dashner, Harlan Coben, and Suzanne Collins will love this nail-biting trilogy.
Shay Remby and her band of renegade activists have got the corrupt Singular Corporation on the run. Their exposé is finally working. Or is it?
Even as revelations about the human experimental subjects break in the news, Singular's employees are slithering out of sight. And then their CEO is killed in a plane crash.... Was it a freak accident? Or a cover-up?
Shay's gang begins to see signs that there may be even more powerful figures than they knew managing events - publicly expressing outrage and mopping up the mess but secretly gathering up their scientists and moving the operation further out of sight.
It will take nothing short of a rampage to stop the Singular menace for good....

"John Sandford?".... not even close
I feel incompetent for being suckered into thinking that a "Sandford" co-authorship would mean I'd enjoy this book like I do his 100% authored books. Virgil Flowers and other Sandford characters must be rolling over in their grave. I was even stupid enough to buy all 3 books in this future chick flick series. D'oh!

So good I didn’t want it to end!
I’ve read other reviews that complained about this collaboration and the fact that this book is nothing like the other books by John Sanford but in my opinion this is narrow minded because this series is simply outstanding!
It is not a police drama like Sanford other books but let’s not forget his Kidd novels.
This book is filled with lavishly full characters that make you wish each one could have a series of their own.
The narration is outstanding.
This may be the end of the trilogy but I hope that the characters will continue in a new story!

Riveting plot, endearing quirky characters, and high, non-stop suspense
Terrific suspense that seems non-stop makes this series special. The quirky characters, including the dog, have captured my imagination as well as my heart. I can’t wait to get the next book.Very creative and exciting as well as beyond the usual and expected.
Reader is excellent. Easy to understand even in high tension scenes.
Fully recommend this series. Great lines in the humor department also.
