Publisher's Summary

The most dangerous man in the world is back.

David Morrell's First Blood introduced Rambo, who joined the ranks of Sherlock Holmes, Tarzan, James Bond, and Harry Potter as an international thriller icon. In this sequel, Rambo is in prison for his one-man war against a small-town police chief. His former commanding officer, Colonel Trautman, arrives with a promise to release him, with two conditions. First, Rambo must return to the Vietnamese prison camp from which he escaped and find the missing Americans rumored to be prisoners there. The second condition? Don't rescue the prisoners. Only bring back photographs. Under no circumstances engage the enemy. For Rambo, the first part is difficult. But the second is impossible. This novelization and the film have many differences. Listen to the story that the film could have had.

"David Morrell is, to me, the finest thriller writer living today, bar none."
--Steve Berry, New York Times bestselling author of The Columbus Affair

"Morrell, an absolute master of the thriller, plays by his own rules and leaves you dazzled."
--Dean Koontz, New York Times bestselling author of 77 Shadow Street

"The father of the modern action novel."
--Vince Flynn, New York Times bestselling author of Kill Shot

Another great performance and story!

Where does Rambo rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Not the best by any means, but certainly enjoyable.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rambo?

The suspense and action

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

The Rambo character for sure - Once again, Eric Dove did a great job at making Rambo sound just like Sylvester Stallone did in the movies.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Action packed thriller!

Any additional comments?

If you enjoyed the Rambo Film series, it's almost a certainty that you'll enjoy the book as well.

Surprisingly good

Why the surprise? I'm not a big Rambo movie fan. I think I've seen it on TV but never actually sat down to watch it if you know what I mean. This book was really good, makes you understand the character more and of course the fun action that's expected of it. Going to find others in the series to listen to.

Return to Hell!

The contradiction from the end of First Blood Part I to the beginning of Part II is a fact in literary history. At the end of Part I, Colonel Troutman killed Rambo. At the beginning of Part II, Colonel Troutman gets Rambo released from prison to perform a mission with the CIA. The mission was to rescue POWs from Viet Nam. What he quickly discovered was that the prison camp to infiltrate was the same one he was held prisoner and tortured. All of you that have seen the movie remember how that turned out. Rambo’s CIA contact Murdock proved to be what Rambo thought of the CIA. Betrayed to fight a losing war once again. Only this time Rambo gets some revenge. “Murdock, I’m coming for you!”

Even more stupid than the movie.

I didn’t imagine it was possible but this book is worse than the movie. I just finished First Blood and thought it was actually a decent book. Not great, but also not terrible with more depth of characters than the movie and maybe a hair more substance.

With that in mind I thought that the book Rambo might be okay. I didn’t expect much but I didn’t think it could actually be worse than the incredibly stupid movie. Wow, was I wrong! Not only did it have all of the absurdity and terrible dialog of the movie, it was worse with the addition of an adolescent boys sexual fantasies sprinkled random throughout the book with no value except to make the reader gag if not outright vomit.

Absolutely terrible book!

This is really awesome

A great book that is absolutely better than the movie and the subsequent ones. I highly recommend this book over the movie for any and all young men coming of age whom wish to be better than the cream of the crop. I developed in greatly maturative ways because of this book.

Amazing listen brings more emotion than the film.
Just don't listen to the intro if you don't know the original ending to first blood.
