A Westwick Witches Cozy Mystery

Cendrine West can't catch a break. She's close to landing a new job, and things are getting cozy with sexy sheriff Tyler Gates. All that changes when she is kidnapped by renegade witch Aunt Pearl, who is hell-bent on avenging a friend's untimely death. It's Las Vegas or bust...for all the wrong reasons.

Rocco Racatelli is a hunky Vegas kingpin - and the next mob target. Lady Luck has dealt him a losing hand and he wants revenge. When Aunt Pearl is a little too eager to help, project Vegas Vendetta quickly escalates into an all-out mob turf war. As the witches are thrust into Sin City's seamy underworld, bodies pile up and secrets are exposed.

It's not just the Las Vegas heat that's scorching...Rocco is intent on winning Cen's heart. But she only wants the man she left behind in Westwick Corners. All she has to do is solve a murder, out-magic her ornery aunt, and take down the Las Vegas mafia. What could possibly go wrong?

When organized crime meets unorganized magic, anything can happen! As the body count climbs, it's clear that Cen needs more than a miracle in the desert to set things right.

Who killed Carla

Poor Cen. Aunt Pearl get her and her mother mixed in another antics. She kidnaps Cen and takes her and her mom to Las Vegas. Of course she does not tell the complete truth as to why they have to go. This mystery involves a dead friend of Aunt Pearls and whether it was an accidental death or murder. There is mobsters, gambling, shoot outs and mobsters trying to take over another's business. What does all this have to do with Cen, Aunt Peal and her mother? Come along and find out. This book was so funny and had plenty of twist. I look forward to more this this series. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest opinion. I recommend this series. The narrator did a great job in bringing the characters to life.

Another fun cozy mystery Vegas style!

I love this author so much! She writes such a fun storyline with plenty twist and turns to keep anyone guessing what is really going on! Aunt Pearl is driving Cendrine nuts again! This time she drags Cen and her mom to Las Vegas! There is lots of humor, mystery, suspense, witches, danger, a touch of romance, and plenty action!

Narration is excellent and brought the story to life! Love this narrator!

There seems to be one crazy thing after another going on in this story! Poor Cen, she can’t win with her crazy aunt pearl shenanigans! This time they are in serious danger caught in between a mob war!

There is plenty secrets that unfold as the story progresses. It’s always a rollercoaster ride with Aunt pearl! Such an entertaining ride all the way through.

I love the way things wrapped up and I’m already looking forward to the next crazy adventure with this fun crew!

Loved It!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

A fun and witchy escapade!

Although I enjoyed the book, I believe the audio version of Rags to Witches adds energy to this wonderful tale. It's interesting to hear the difference characters "speak" to each other out loud!

Embrace your Inner Witch!

Oh, Cendrine! Embrace your Inner Witch! Taking off on a cross-country romp with her mother and aunt to Las Vegas in a "borrowed" RV, Cen encounters gangsters and gamblers and a high school jerk who's become a handsome hunk. Or has he? Practice your magic, Cen!

This is the second in the Westwick Witches series and I had the pleasure of listening to narrator Petrea Burchard [AUDIO] again lovingly voice the characters as they attempted to unravel the murder mystery. It all comes together nicely in the end--very nicely--but you are not going to get ahead of the cast in following clues, especially with several surprise twists skillfully inserted.

Murder, Gangsters and Lots of Laughs

Another light-hearted murder mystery staring the Westwick Witches.
Aunt Pearl kidnaps Cen and her mother and drags them off to Vegas to spend the lottery money she just won and to solve the murder of her old friend who ... oh by the way, just happens to be part of one of the biggest mob families in the nation.
The story twists and turns, keeping the listener guessing right until the very end but the biggest surprise comes at the very end of the story ... and it has nothing to do with the mob or the murder.
Thoroughly entertaining and well worth the relatively short listening time.

Great narration of an OK book

This is one of those audiobooks which are difficult for me to rate; on the one hand, the narration is wonderful, on the other, the plot is just OK - likeable but...

Well, I can't really explain what the "but" is about. Is it that the book generally just didn't grasp my attention to the extent of me forgetting the world around and focusing totally on the plot...? Or is it that the main character seemed a little bland, without that sparkle of character that would make her attractive to me as a listener...? Or maybe it's just that some scenes seemed to jump almost out of the blue and felt like being there for the sake of (unnecessarily) complicating the plot...?

It's not that the plot is uninteresting - because it is, with the mafia involved and a murder to be solved, and aunt Pearl with her belief that the use of magic is a wonderful solution for everything (by the way, the character of aunt Pearl is one of the funniest I've met in cozy mysteries so far)... There are also several good twists in the story, as we might expect from a crime plot; still, somehow it all didn't work for me so well this time. I found myself rewinding a chapter now and then to listen again as I seemed to lose focus more than once. So even though I truly liked the book altogether, as it was a really relaxing, pleasurable listen, I can't give it more than three stars for the story.

The narration, however, is wonderful. It's my first by Ms Burchard and it was a fantastic experience. I especially loved the voice of aunt Pearl - I just saw her, a 70-year-old witch who wants everyone to dance to her tune:) It was a flawless performance from Ms Burchard. The other characters' voices were equally good, and the narration had a perfect pace. Ms Burchard is definitely a narrator I'll come back to.

Nice Easy Listen But Good Story

I enjoyed this book.

I had not read the first book in the series but it didn't matter as the author includes enough background so you know who is who but doesn't let this overtake this new book.

It stands alone yet it left me wanting to read the previous book and hope that more books in the series are forthcoming.

The story is a very easy read which is good, its what is wanted, a book that contains a good story but not one that is heavy and hard going. A book which is just one you can listen to for pure enjoyment and relaxation.

The book hangs together well and I think it ties the different themes together well.

It most definitely fits the cosy Mystery Genre even with splashes of witchcraft and romance throughout it along with the expected murders.

The only thing that spoiled it for me was the narrator, as her voice, to me made the main Character sound as if she was 14 - the book is written in the first person, the main Character is telling the story and until she mentioned her age I had honestly thought she was a teenager. There was nothing in the story to give this impression it was just the way the narrator spoke - this could be because I am from the UK and the narrator is American so maybe the narrator is speaking as others who know the American accent better would say but this is how they would expect a woman the characters age to speak.

To me, the narrator would be fantastic reading books whose main character is a teen.

It was the only niggle I had with the book and it did spoil my enjoyment a little.

I have definitely added the author to my list of authors whose books I would listen to.

I must state I did receive this book free on the understanding I would give a truthful review, which this is.

Fun

This a fun series and I’m liking the characters, well most of them! Aunt Pearl is a nightmare but if it wasn’t for her antics the story wouldn’t kick off. Though if she was my aunt I’d be avoiding her big style haha
Mr Policeman sounds very nice though and who knew! To know you need to listen or read the book. No spoilers from me.
Try them for fun, light and time flying by antics.
