Kept me reading to the end

Not a bad novel, though I did find a lot of the attitudes displayed by people - especially towards the police a trifle overdone. No-one was 'normal', and it did rather stretch one's belief, as did the convoluted family structures in the novel!

I won't bother with this writer again. I did find the narration a trifle odd too - the narrator announced the chapter numbers as if they were earth shattering events

Dull

I have read most of Ann Granger's novels and enjoyed them very much, but what happened here I don't know. The story line is none existent, and as slight as it is, it's drawn out beyond belief. I couldn't have cared less about any of the characters. I was actually listening to this on a plane with no other choices otherwise I would have given up.

A great easy listen!

For anyone who loved and misses Granger's Alan Markby series this is a must! Fortunately Judith Boyd narrates again brilliantly and this is an easy cosy listen.

rather slow but a good twist at the end

good for listening to as you're going to sleep, as I like to, because it isn't full of grizzly details and not too many exciting moments.

I appreciate when the author has thought about words other than "said", and the author has been creative with the language in this book.

I would only have given 3 stars for the story because it does drag a bit, certainly it's not life changing. however there's a nice twist right at the end that I really didn't see coming.

Rack, ruin and a fair read

I enjoyed the book. It wasn't the best but average. I loved the character of Uncle Monty with his eccentricities. The book did capture the atmosphere that it could of and that was my problem with it.

Childish, shrieking voices

The story in itself was not too bad however some of the voices were a bit off putting.

Most entertaining with a great twist at the end

Really enjoying this Author and the narrator is so eminently listenable, one of my all time favourites.
Good story that carries you along and well drawn characters that are very believable.
