Author’s voice perfect for the story
I really enjoyed this book, and the author’s voice really added to the ambience of hearing it. The story had such a wonderful flow of emotions over the life of Ellen/Nellie/Queenie. The descriptive writing really provided a vivid snapshot of each moment without overdoing it. (Some stories get lost in too many details) this story was succinct and painted the scenes immediately, and the dialogue was well done. I think it was a great choice to have the author be the one to speak this story.
