Dark secrets and forbidden love threaten the very survival of the Shadowhunters in Cassandra Clare’s Queen of Air and Darkness, the final novel in the number one New York Times and USA Today best-selling The Dark Artifices trilogy. Queen of Air and Darkness is a Shadowhunters novel.

What if damnation is the price of true love?

Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the disease that is destroying the race of warlocks. Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.

Wonderful Ending

Heartbreaking and hopeful. It's a magical and very flawed World but the depth of the characters both new and old continue to make this book one hell of an ending. The whole trilogy has handled such complex issues including sexuality, gender, bigotry, racism and autism with an empathetic understanding of life's diversity that it's just shows how much Clare's writing continues to grow and flourish. I very much look forward to seeing what happens next in the World of Shadowhunters and Downworlders.
James Marsters narration as always is a delight to listen to.

She delivered

Clare 100% delivered. I laughed, I cried and I still wanted more after 30 hours of audio book. I’m looking forward to whatever the next book will be.
I’m glad they’ve kept the same narrator for more than one book (a rarity!) and Marsters’ voice really brings it, I think his range is great.
All round excellent and I think it’s as good a last book in a trilogy that I could have asked for.

Excruciatingly long winded.

Not quite sure how it has been given such raving reviews. Title says it all really. Incredibly boring.

Good...

The plot and story were great! However, most of the book is from a female perspective and sounds a little odd with a male reader.

Satisfying conclusion

"Alec lightwood loved one man so much he changed the world for him"

I've been reading this books since I was 13. I've definetely changed a lot since then, both in myself and in what I enjoy to read. Somehow, though, I never get bored of this world or these books. The lgbt rep is, as always, astounding

A great plot ruined by the narration

Can't fault CC on her writing but the narrator changes volume too much, making it hard to listen. I felt like I was constantly turn the volume up and down.

I love endings

I love the Shadowhunter world and Emma and Julian's story in particular - this was such a fitting end to their trilogy. Full of emotion and closure. The performance of James Marsden was great. Sometimes I chuckled as he lowered or raised his voice to become one of the female characters or certain accents but all in all I didn't have a 'thrown from the story' moment. I loved it!

Struggled to stop listening

Cassandra Clare writes Brilliantly, as always. I was back into the series within minutes, placed right back at the end of book 2 and in tears.

It was read amazingly as well- full of voices and animation.

Can't wait for what's next

I have always loved Cassandra's work and throughout the years I've come back and back again. I love this magical world so much, I love these characters like I love my friends and family as cliche as it sounds. This book was beyond amazing and the narration was perfect. Can't wait for what's next!
