Timeless spiritual truths and historical references

I recently listened to Jennifer Q. Hunt's Purest Joys Restored and absolutely loved it! I've now listened to this whole series and the narrator does a great job with the voices, both male and female. The story was a perfect series ender and had so many poignant moments.

This is Brax and Hazel’s story and yes there is romance, but the story is filled with a great deal more.

Jennifer includes so much history and weaves real people and events in with her fictional characters. Above all, she adds realistic spiritual struggles and growth. This story shines light on church hurt, family hurt, racism of the late 1920s (and how it varied in different locations around the U.S.), and forgiving those who never repent or make right the hurt they inflicted on us.

I can’t recommend this book or series enough. I came away stronger in my faith and convicted about things I need to face.

In this series, you should read the books in order or you will miss a lot of who Brax is and the stories of the other main characters in his family.

The BEST book of the 3!!!

I have adored this entire series but I admit I think Brax and Hazel were my favorite. I truly enjoyed how beautifully this family saga was woven together into a perfect story of redemption and restoration for the glory of God. The historical interwoven narrative is also highly intriguing to me. I love how the author framed so many issues surrounding things like spiritual abuse and struggling with one’s talents and how to best use them for God’s glory as I’ve also struggled in similar ways so I related to that part of the story a lot. I could continue gushing. It’s just a perfect ending to a perfect series! Go listen!!
