Publisher's Summary

The irresistible companion to the number one New York Times best seller Dumplin’, soon to be a major motion picture starring Danielle Macdonald and Jennifer Aniston!

Millie Michalchuk has gone to fat camp every year since she was a little girl. Not this year. This year she has new plans to chase her secret dream of being a newscaster - and to kiss the boy she’s crushing on.

Callie Reyes is the pretty girl who is next in line for dance team captain and has the popular boyfriend. But when it comes to other girls, she’s more frenemy than friend.

When circumstances bring the girls together over the course of a semester, they surprise everyone (especially themselves) by realizing that they might have more in common than they ever imagined.

A story about unexpected friendship, romance, and Texas-size girl power, this is another winner from Julie Murphy.

If you loved Dumplin', you'll love Puddin'!

I read Dumplin' and I love it so much. The audiobook was also great. I had really high expectations for Puddin' and Julie Murphy did not disappoint! Puddin' is amazing! I love the way that Julie writes, and her books actually make me laugh out loud. She makes the characters so relatable and loveable! I highly recommend this book! It's a really great read/listen!

Puddin.

It starts really slow but comes together in the end, the voice of Millie in the very beginning of the chapters is kind of annoying. But teaches you to love the skin your in.

Disappointed

I got this book to find out what was next for Dumplin in hopes to pick up where book 1 left off. But it didn’t so many skipped things and unanswered questions

Meh

Not as good as Dumplin'. This book is a perfect example of why some books don't need a sequel.

Plodding voice ruins story.

I loved Dumplin so the second I saw Puddin I jumped on it. It’s a great story and I was surprised to feel kinship with Callie, as I don’t normally enjoy mean girls. And I adore Millie, she is the kind of character that just steals the story. But and it’s a big but, her narrator just kills it. For a fat proud book why oh why did they give her that ugly, plodding, slow sounding voice. Next to Callie’s sweet one it just sounds like a slap in the face. Like they want you to think she’s ugly. It makes Millie’s parts difficult to get through and makes you think they don’t like the cheerful, chubby heroine as much as the thin perky one. Especially when it talks about her cute, and even sometimes sexy, voice. It really ruined the story, Such a bummer.

Great second chapter in the Dumplin’verse!

I was a little hesitant about this book at first because of how terrible Callie was in Dumplin’, but I ended up loving it! This turned into a great story about how people can hide behind personas they’ve made for themselves, but that doesn’t make them who they are. As a self proclaimed fat girl, it’s also so wonderful to see a story about a fat girl written by a real fat girl. Julie Murphy captures that so well and highlights that all of our stories are full, complex, deep, and complex. Some great cameos from Dumplin’ characters (including my favorite, Mitch) as well as new characters.
