Publisher's Summary

What would you choose: love or duty?

As the Torrian Alliance continues its age-old mission of hunting down Star Children, King Gregorio Derry reluctantly agrees to send his only son, William, to planet Earth on a mission to bring honor back to the royal family name. The target: Sydney, a young teenage girl unaware of her alien heritage.

When an unforeseen accident delays the assassination, William begins to realize he is forming a connection with Sydney, and he struggles to follow through with his orders. With the fear of civil war imminent back home, William must make the ultimate choice between his irrevocable duty and love, sacrificing everything he believes. But as a hidden menace emerges to secure a vested interest and impossible odds begin to mount against them, William and Sydney wonder if a connection between two star-crossed lovers is enough to save them from destruction.

Star crossed lovers

SPOILERS

The sound quality of this book is great, and he tells his story well but sometimes I felt that some of the emotion or inflections didn't always match the situation for me, but still a good performance on the reading.

*******

I really liked the concept of Romeo and Juliet falling in love, but rather than killing themselves he's been sent to find and murder her.

These star crossed lovers from different worlds fall in love, despite all odds, and their journey has just begun. I cannot wait to listen to book two.

I should not be writing a review of this book.

This is probably a very good YA sifi/romance book. I'm not a YA and it just held no appeal for me. The only reason I did not give it a higher rating is because it's not in one of my genres. I did read all but 1 hour of it though. Now for the obligatory: This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Thoroughly Enjoed It

Cosby shines in his writing as he has a very vivid imagination and his narration was solid too. Dialogue was a little kiddy at times, but didn’t detract from the overall story in his unique universe.

Very Good

The story was good and the characters were very relatable. I did have some issues with the mysterious connection at first, but it all made sense by the ending and I’m anxious to listen to the second one.

Great Book

All I can say is that Cosby got me with the surprise ending and I have to read the second book now. Solid story with good narration. You won’t be disappointed.

Spot On!

I often struggle with sci-fi books as the details just seem to get in the way and oftentimes, I lose interest. But Cosby writes a very smooth prose with lots of details that feels necessary and his narration was spot on. I love to see authors narrate their own stories because they know exactly how everyone should speak. The authenticity was lot lost here and I’ll be looking for part two soon.

Just not very good all around

The story would have been decent if the details hadn’t been so unbelievable. It was like the writer wasn’t quite sure what to do with the details so they just glossed over it with something ridiculous. The characters talk like they are quoting from the Bible. This would have been excusable for the alien, explainable even. Yet, even the other characters say things like “remember, (insert proverb)” in their dialogue constantly. The characters are like able and they have some sweet interactions yet the dialogue was not natural. The narrator had a great voice but didn’t have a lot of differentiation in the voices at times. The audio quality was also not great. I really wanted to like this book yet I found myself considering just stopping the listen (GASP) because it just wasn’t great. I think what was so frustrating was that with a little better editing, narrating and recording, this could have been a very good book. I hope this writer gets the support to do this in the future, I definitely thought it had the potential just waiting to be given direction.
