The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller!

What is wrong meets what feels right in this romance set in Italy by the New York Times bestselling author of Deep End.

Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.

Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.

It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.

But not everything is as it seems—and clichés sometimes become plot twists.

When Maya’s brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs—even if it’s a problematic one.

Wow - I usually love Ali Hazelwood . . . This was such a disappointment for me. The male narrator (Scottish accent) was very annoying and distracting and the storyline was pathetcally uneventful, a nothing burger.

Absolutely Horrible

I enjoyed the story overall just as I like all of Hazelwood’s other books, but I couldn’t truly love this book because of the narrator. At times, the female voice was normal and heard regularly, but at others, she whispered the story and I could not hear her at all. So, I was constantly changing the volume of my headphones. The male voice is also pretty loud so it was a shock when the dialogue would go between the female whispering to the male just speaking normally.

Narrator ruined the book for me

Loved the story line for these characters. The anticipation and delivery amazed me and kept me up. I also loved the story connection between Eli & Rue. This book felt so right.

Loved this book!

I don’t typically like a romance w a 20 year olds and 35 yr old powerful man but this was done well. The romance had a great build up and the banter was smart. I was almost annoyed by how sweet it was at times.

Great but sometimes too happy

Disappointed to see such a lukewarm anti feminist ending. Ironic to call this a subversive trope when young girls marrying old accomplished men and dreaming of maternal roles like teachers and mothers was the norm for decades. As the first woman in my family I go to college instead of being married off, you’ll have to excuse me if I despise choice feminism and the overt tradwife themes in this book.

Female narrator had an annoying cadence. Male narrator is hot.

Ali’s pivot from STEMinist to tradwife

The dialogues, the banner, what can be better. When you thought that all is lost life perform hold my beer and it fixed something that seemed unreperable.

Addicting and perfect slow burn 🔥❤️

I need to say that Elizabeth Lamont did an absolute fantastic narration, so natural it was like she was really under the skin of the Protagonist.

The story had me feeling butterflies of all kind.

The Narration!
