All Eddie Doyle wants is one night of the high life: dancing, drinks, witty conversation, everything he's ever seen in the movies.

So when his boss gets sick, Eddie throws away his career for one night of posing as the wealthy Roger Carver.

Then, behind closed doors, Eddie learns what kind of people Roger’s people really are.

“They’ve been rich too long, those old boys and girls from Park Avenue.

Too much time pleasing themselves, licking and sticking and pricking themselves," Roger's wife Chantal tells Eddie after they've robbed the evening's first party of its unmentionables.

Chantal begs Eddie to rescue her from her abusive husband.

The two take a tour of New York's highest low spots, robbing the rich to finance their "retirement fund." Meanwhile, Roger, fearful of losing his young wife and the respect of his friends, pursues them — but is Roger Eddie's real enemy, or is Chantal manipulating them both?

The questions build until sunrise, at the Squires Club, where Roger's greatest fantasies — and Eddie's worst nightmares — are played out.
