Not good!

The absolute worst Johnstone book ever! I have many Johnstone books in my library. This has nothing to do with mountain men. The plot is ridiculous, extremely disappointed! The best thing about the book is J Rodney Turner! Don’t waste your time or money.

So Utterly Ridiculous

Preacher in Ancient Rome...on the frontier?!? Sorry folks, this is a sad case of our favorite Western Pulp author running out of juice. So...he delved into his dusty texts (*The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire* comes to mind) and spewed horse-pucky replete with togas and gladiators. This book was so inane, so utterly stupid, that I am considering swearing off my Preacher Pulp Addiction. Hey William W. Johnstone, as The Who said, *We won't be fooled again.* This book was total nonsense! Please, don't do this again.

However, J. Rodney Turner (narrator) is a voice from the past (or the cowboy apocalypse). He is amazing.

Cowboy Story Meets Twilight Zone

This story is utterly implausible as well as disgusting. On the one hand you must listen to inbreed child beating parents who force their children to steal from people then kill them. This book is a few flap jacks short of a full stack.

On the other hand you have a super-rich psychopath who builds a replica of Rome called New Rome in the west complete with a full city made of marble and a roman fighting arena Colosseum with gladiators that are made up of hijacked white settlers, Indians and idiot Christian missionaries that are so incredibly naive and stupid that you can't stand listening to them talk.

There are so many parts of this book that are filled with idiots' nonsensical talk and psychopathic "Romans" role playing for real that you will want to fast forward through 25% of this book.

1,000+ people die in this book. Lots of destruction and mass killings.

I won't give it away, but the ending is incredibly out of this world stupid with the part of the little boy.

If you don't mind listening to incredibly low IQ humans talk, as well as the raping of women, girls and boys, then this book might be worth considering. But I'd never recommend this book to anyone, well maybe to Charles Manson. As "it is absurd as a buffalo terd."

Mental Illness

This story had an overwhelming amount of mental illness in the story.
There was some missing pieces left out of the story.
Least favorite of the books so far.
The books have provided much entertainment as we drive across the U.S.

Ridiculous Premise and a Betrayal of Preacher

This is not Preacher. This is not William Johnstone. It taints a wonderful 25 year relationship with the Johnstone brand. Warning! Don't read it.

struggled to get through it. not feasible and didn't make any sense to me at all.

I started to just stop & say I wasted my money. This is hardly euphoric to par . I have listened to only one other Johnstone book that was worst. The description of the book hardly mentioned the fairytale story.

Its definitely a unique storyline but not as good as the others in the series.

I enjoyed this book with the history. it had alot of good suspense. I liked the truth behind Roman soldiers.
