The Washington Post seems to have left out some critical details about Watergate. they had a political agenda.

Fascinating Take on the Role of "Deep Throat"

This is almost two books in one. The first part deals primarily with how the Washington Post dealt with the secret identify of "Deep Throat" and whether or not promises were kept between Woodward/Post and Mark Felt. The second part branches out into the bigger issue of the Post's coverage of Watergate and whether the paper had an agenda of its own as evidenced by what stories it chose to report, or not report.

The book is well-written and contains plenty of info for both the seasoned or rookie student of Watergate. The narration is perfect. Overall this is a good piece that is easy to listen to and, sadly, leaves the listener wanting to hear more!

Watergate with recent updated information.

The first half is a little slow. The author does give some useful background. The middle covers an updated view of Watergate. The end studies where the Washington Post messed up the story. The author mentions the major texts and documents about Watergate. The author also uses his legal background to discuss some details. Overall I recommend this for anyone wanting to study Watergate (especially the second half).

this book shows the deceit and bias of mainstream media, especially the Washington post. it is well researched and presents evidence about how the post slanted the story and covered up details to advance their personal agenda. it also shows the dark side of bob woodward.

I agree with the basic premise of the book that Woodward and Bernstein started the lean towards opinion journalism and agenda based media coverage but the book is just to slow for me. It seems like a lot of filler to finish a book that could have been half the size.

the book is largely not sensationalist, but covers the story of uncovering deepthroat and in the process, a media cover up of facts relevant to the "biggest" scandal in American history.

Excellent work excellent book

In an age of such deep awareness of the manipulation of events by media and their puppet masters, and of the the shallowness of Human awareness through the expansion of un-social media - this book should be standard reading in college history classes - it is a case study of what still occurs today. An absolute tragedy of the commons - where hero-boy -girl scouts such as John Dean are unmasked as real luciferian-like villains … Bush - Cheney - Clinton - Fauci - and the list goes on and on - we can start our Capital for examples in the nest of the absence of virtue !

Paradigm changing book! Destroys the myths!

Rips the shroud of secrecy that protected Woodstein aka Woodward and Bernstein from scrutiny and instead made them larger than life heroes when in fact especially Mr. Woodward was tyrannical in his abuse of the confidence Deep Throat and other sources for his stories mistakenly placed in him. Mr. O'Connor gives background that would have escaped history without this book. I am recommending it to everybody! Delightful read! Insider information as only Mark Felt's aka Deep Throat's Attorney can relate about how Journalism has evolved since Watergate from Reporting the facts to framing them into agenda driven and reputation making tools to change America. I am blown away at how the media has managed to hide their sins and escape the public scrutiny that Mr.O'Connor has opened. Hope this book becomes a best seller!! Must Reading! The Book's Introduction should be required reading at every Journalism School! I applaud and salute John O'Connor for revealing how we have arrived at today's sad state of "journalism". Thank you!!!

Wow...

I think this book sounded very credible, and brought out enough factual, sourced information to cast doubt on the “official narrative” about the Watergate scandal. Too bad this information was hidden for so long. It’s sickening, actually. Thanks to John O’Conner, we are armed with a more full picture of what happened, and how the WaPo was complicit in shaping the narrative to protect Democrats and frame Nixon.
