When Izzy agreed to become an undercover poison taster, she didn't anticipate that it might involve driving around the streets of Los Angeles with a corpse in the trunk.
Because the police asked her to.
She also didn't think finding a body together could be considered a bonding experience until she met Connor's family.
But fate delights in marking its territory all over Izzy's expectations. And this time she'll be caught between the powers of Homeland Security, an evil human trafficking ring, and the Taste Society all working toward different ends....

It's far fetched, but it's at least fetching

Four books in and she never uses a gun. The secret agent poison testing thing has been overhyped and seems ridiculous. I just can’t suspend belief anymore and pretend so many poisonings coincidentally happen where Izzy is around to save the day. Cops asking her to drive around with a dead body in the trunk? Nonsensical. And the mystery path is so predictable, with Izzy stumbling upon the villain through dumb luck instead of sleuthing skills, and then coming out victorious in a life and death struggle with the baddie- where she still doesn’t use a gun.
You’ll see all the plot twists a mile away. Like when she gets taught self defense… of course that’ll be the move she uses in the finale. This book was also a snoozer because, except for mechanic and sassy sister Harper, the fun side-characters barely appeared here. Izzy’s roommate Oliver, Etta, and Mr. Black get only slight mentions. This wasn’t an awful book, but in the end it didn’t do anything for me. I think this will be my last purchase in the series.
Still with the gun on the cover?
