Publisher's Summary

"I'm going to love my baby and give her lots of attention," Jade said. "I'll show my mum she's wrong."

Jade, 17, is pregnant, homeless, and alone when she's brought to live with Cathy. Jade is desperate to keep her baby, but, little more than a child herself, she struggles with the responsibilities her daughter brings.

Cathy is worried as soon as Jade arrives: she's never looked after a pregnant teenager before, but none of the mother-and-baby carers is free, and - 17 years old, seven months pregnant, and homeless - Jade is in a desperate situation.

But Jade doesn't want to listen or advice, and although her daughter is born safely it isn't long before Jade's in trouble with the police.

Cathy knows that Jade loves her daughter with all her heart, but will she be able to get through to Jade in time to make her realise just how much she might lose?

An Absorbing Book with Outstanding Narration!

This book held my interest throughout: I really worried about the eventual outcome for this young mother and child....even for her younger boyfriend involved too. There was something so adorably human about the protagonist teen, namely -- It's not that Jade was necessarily lazy but she preferred to sleep in (when she could) and let the foster mother change and feed Baby, LOL. Ditto when she was sometimes napping. HAHA. Also, she drank alcohol and smoked, a definite no-no. I did complete the story many months ago so I forget a lot of the details but the plot certainly had twists & turns which made it exciting to follow. I think you will grow to care about what happens to all the main characters in this true story too. Personally, I really loved this audible.com book and I thought Denica Fairman was (and still is) a brilliant narrator/performance artist.

Amazing story

I really enjoyed this book. It gave me hope, that not all babies get taken from their moms, and placed for adoption.

so good

loved it. I kept telling at my phone (Where I listen to audible) don't trust her! I also had many night where I had to keep listening. Jade had me going up and Down with my emotions and I worried for Courtney and Tyler.

I love Danica as a narrator and I hope she continues to narrate for Cathy. if I ever meet Cathy, I may be shocked when a different voice comes out of her mouth lol.

An absolute insult!

How are these books still being allowed to be published as non- fiction ?!?!
Anyone who has an ounce of knowledge of the care system knows the majority of these books aren’t are far fetched at best, but this one in particular is a joke!
It’s actually laughable, especially the ending.

I don’t even believe Cathy Glass is a person anymore, more like a group of writers who work for the publishers just making up as much nonsense as they possibly can, that appeals to public opinion.
They seem to have the care system slang mastered perfectly.... but the rest of it is absolutely disgraceful and a complete insult to kids who lived in the care system!

Audio

I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. Cathy is a fantastic author I have enjoyed all of Cathys books can't wait till the new one in February. She gives a good clear understanding about all the emotions that foster carers go through that I didn't give much thought to till now. Thank you Cathy for letting us into a part of foster caring x
