Publisher's Summary

I may have moved from Texas to Colorado, but my reputation followed me - right along with my furniture. Everyone knows...I'm a player. Since I'm one of the billionaire Walker brothers, most of the world knows what I am. It's not like I ever tried to hide it. I never cared about what other people thought about me. I lived to party...or I did until I realized what I really wanted to do with my life. Now, I'm having one hell of a time convincing Paige Rutledge, our new attorney in the legal department at Walker Enterprises, that I'm more than willing to settle for just one woman in my bed, as long as that female is her. Unfortunately, she's not buying it, but I'm not giving up. There's never been a woman I couldn't charm into bed if I wanted to. Problem is, I've never wanted one quite this badly, and the more I get to know her, the higher the stakes are for me. Luckily, I'm a gambling kind of guy. Paige is uptight, driven, and totally hiding something. I want to find out her secrets, but when I do, they are nothing like I imagined. She confuses everything for me, but with her, I'm finding out that maybe I actually don't mind if things get complicated. What's a guy to do when one female turns my life upside down from the moment I meet her? I have no idea what other men might do, but I'm determined to get what I want, and I'm not opposed to doing anything to achieve my objective. Paige is mine, she just doesn't realize it yet....

A SIMPLE TALE OF STRENGTH & LOVE

Sebastian Walker had been a party going Player after his parents died but, for the past year, he's turned his life around and his sole focus had been entirely taken up with working at Walker Industries developing alternative and sustainable energy sources. His mind wasn't at all focussed on women.. but one elevator ride changed everything because he had an instant overwhelming reaction when he saw and smelt the aloof stranger who he was pressed next to. But his good looks, charm and panty-melting smile had absolutely no impact on the beautiful woman who stiffly told him to move away. And just like that Sebastian was hooked, his interests grew and his fate was set.. but she was going to give him a challenging ride.

Paige knew exactly who was standing next to her in the lift on the first day at her job but, due to a traumatic event in her past, she had closed her emotions off and focussed entirely on her career. She also knew of Sebastian's partying player ways and she had been there done that and got the emotional scars that went with dangerous rich men.. but the more she got to know the real man behind all the headlines the more she liked what she saw. Then one night Paige came face to face with the monster from her past and Paige had no alternative but to open up and let Sebastian in.. into her well kept secrets, into her body.. and eventually into her heart.

This was very much a relationship focussed dual POV story as the instant chemistry was fought against initially by Paige.. but luckily Sebastian went after what he wanted and never backed down from a challenge.. and there would be challenges. These two characters didn't do stupid things, didn't cause unnecessary dramas and didn't stray so theirs was a tender respectful growing together romance that solidified and reached an unbreakable love. There was character growth, good sex scenes, humor, passion, characters from the previous book and also some emotional angst when the past came back to dig up memories.. SPOILER: memories that may be a trigger for some listeners of being drugged and raped. J. S. Scott has written a tender well paced love story and she always uses the voice of Elizabeth Powers to tell her stories who I like so, if it ain't broke....!

Worth a credit? Yes, even if I did waiver between a 4 or 5 star rating, this was still a very enjoyable listen as the swoon-worthy hero showed the heroine how to open up, feel again and let emotions and people back into her once solitary life. But I don't think much to the cover.

Out of the ashes of heartache, comes love ...

When your world falls apart, it's your heart that points you in the right direction.  Many times I have heard it said "you can't judge a book by it's cover, Player proves those words right.  Scott uses her talent to enlighten, inspire and surprise. Sebastian and Paige have a depth that  goes way beyond attraction.  Both are running away from painful memories, hoping to survive the fallout.  Sebastian is the Walker brother that everybody tends to underestimate. The party boy has matured and is working to live down his past. Paige is a woman with a secret in her past that has shaped her present.  Neither Paige nor Sebastian are what they seem. For out of the ashes of heartache, comes a love worth fighting for.

Finding yourself

After his father’s sudden death, Sebastian spiraled into a world of partying and debauchery. After he reconciles with his brother, and realizes he wants to be a part of their family company, he leaves that life behind and focuses on his work. Until he meets Paige in the elevator on her first day at work as a junior lawyer for his company. Paige is focused on her career. She’s not impressed by money, and she’s determined to do well in her new job. But multiple encounters with Sebastian have her reeling with her attraction, and when he gets her to accompany him to a social event in order to nail down a potential deal for Sebastian, sparks fly even more. But a person in her past that changed her life, not for the good, re-appears and throws everything into a tailspin. Sebastian goes overprotective alpha male in the best way in this story. He fully owns up to his own past, and when events from Paige’s past haunt her, he is fully there to help her work through them and move on. He’s exactly the type of guy a woman would want and need in that situation. Not to mention hot as hell. When they finally connect, it is scorching, and their HEA is very sweet.

A great Story!

After his father and stepmother were killed in a place crash and his younger brother was severely injured, Sebastian Walker checked out from his family and any responsibilities he had with Walker Enterprises. He left that up to this older brother, Trace. Sebastian becomes such a “player”, partying and sleeping with every beauty he could get his hands on. He finally decides he has had enough of that life and starts to grow up and become a part of his family once again. He takes a job working with Trace and gives up his partying lifestyle. A year goes by with him working very hard at his job and living up to his responsibilities. In walks Paige Rutledge; a new attorney at Walker Enterprises and Sebastian was a goner. He tries to get Paige to go out with him but with no success. She has heard of his reputation and wants no part of him. He comes up with a plan that gets Paige to go out with him as business for the company. After a traumatic incident happens at event, Paige opens up to Trace about her past. After realizing how far Trace has come from his past, he helps Paige heal from hers. Player is the second in this series about the Walker Brothers and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is much pain in our H and H but there is fun conversations as well as tears and healing. Sebastian has just enough alpha male to balance out the humor and fun in this story. Yet he has such a tender side. He understood Paige’s pain because he had been there himself. Paige and Sebastian really did compliment each other, there was definite chemistry between them and good balance in their relationship. Player has such a good plot/story line with a nice well-rounded ending for this couple. The narrator did a great job at bringing this story to life. I definitely recommend this book.

Mmmm the 2nd book did not disappoint!

The 2nd walker brothers book is as good as I had hoped it would be! Paige and Sébastien are such a great couple is almost not fair lol. The way Sébastien tries to take care of Paige and help her get past the awful things that happened to her are so sweet you'll get a tooth ache 😂 Just like the first book there are twists and turns that unexpected yet grab and pull you into the story harder! Must pick this one up especially if you read book 1 already.

Didn't meet my expectations.

Hmm...First of all, the trauma is drugged rape. The descriptions are graphic, so beware! Now, that aside compared to Eva and Trace, this book fell way short. I was most interested in the prelude to Book 3. I just didn't find anything appealing to the couple that made me cheer them on. I felt like this book was just a bridge for me to get to Dane's story. Perhaps I just expected too much.

Player!

Loved this one! Crazy when you meet your soul mate in the elevator at work and they literally blow you off. Sebastian meets the newest junior lawyer on her first day at work and he is intrigued. Paige graduated from Harvard and came to work at Walker, not her dream job, but far away from the East coast. These two were made for each other and this reformed player does a great job healing Paige and the emotional scars she has. Great addition to this series!

Yes to Player

I enjoy listening to Elizabeth Powers, she makes listening a joy. Sebastian has a player reputation, he has past that also has a lot of pain. Paige has her own past. The two meet in a elevator and both feel a attraction . Paige does not want to acknowledge the attraction between them. When Paige's past walks back into her life, Sebastian steps up and helps her. Can both of them put their past behind them and find love. This is a book full of emotions, Sit back and enjoy and listen to this brilliant book.

Worth the wait

The narrator wasn't the best but it I still enjoyed listening. I just loved the romance of the story. Looking forward to the next book. I do wish there was more involvement from characters from the other books.
