When your world falls apart, it's your heart that points you in the right direction.  Many times I have heard it said "you can't judge a book by it's cover, Player proves those words right.  Scott uses her talent to enlighten, inspire and surprise. Sebastian and Paige have a depth that  goes way beyond attraction.  Both are running away from painful memories, hoping to survive the fallout.  Sebastian is the Walker brother that everybody tends to underestimate. The party boy has matured and is working to live down his past. Paige is a woman with a secret in her past that has shaped her present.  Neither Paige nor Sebastian are what they seem. For out of the ashes of heartache, comes a love worth fighting for.

Loved it! The narration is awesome! The author does a great job with the character builds and plot. I love this author's style of writing. I look forward to reading more books in this series! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A SIMPLE TALE OF STRENGTH & LOVE

Sebastian Walker had been a party going Player after his parents died but, for the past year, he's turned his life around and his sole focus had been entirely taken up with working at Walker Industries developing alternative and sustainable energy sources. His mind wasn't at all focussed on women.. but one elevator ride changed everything because he had an instant overwhelming reaction when he saw and smelt the aloof stranger who he was pressed next to. But his good looks, charm and panty-melting smile had absolutely no impact on the beautiful woman who stiffly told him to move away. And just like that Sebastian was hooked, his interests grew and his fate was set.. but she was going to give him a challenging ride.

Paige knew exactly who was standing next to her in the lift on the first day at her job but, due to a traumatic event in her past, she had closed her emotions off and focussed entirely on her career. She also knew of Sebastian's partying player ways and she had been there done that and got the emotional scars that went with dangerous rich men.. but the more she got to know the real man behind all the headlines the more she liked what she saw. Then one night Paige came face to face with the monster from her past and Paige had no alternative but to open up and let Sebastian in.. into her well kept secrets, into her body.. and eventually into her heart.

This was very much a relationship focussed dual POV story as the instant chemistry was fought against initially by Paige.. but luckily Sebastian went after what he wanted and never backed down from a challenge.. and there would be challenges. These two characters didn't do stupid things, didn't cause unnecessary dramas and didn't stray so theirs was a tender respectful growing together romance that solidified and reached an unbreakable love. There was character growth, good sex scenes, humor, passion, characters from the previous book and also some emotional angst when the past came back to dig up memories.. SPOILER: memories that may be a trigger for some listeners of being drugged and raped. J. S. Scott has written a tender well paced love story and she always uses the voice of Elizabeth Powers to tell her stories who I like so, if it ain't broke....!

Worth a credit? Yes, even if I did waiver between a 4 or 5 star rating, this was still a very enjoyable listen as the swoon-worthy hero showed the heroine how to open up, feel again and let emotions and people back into her once solitary life. But I don't think much to the cover.

This was so enjoyable!!! I LOVED the flow and up beat style of this story! Such as sweet and hot romance. Can't wait for the next in series.

Mmmm the 2nd book did not disappoint!

The 2nd walker brothers book is as good as I had hoped it would be! Paige and Sébastien are such a great couple is almost not fair lol. The way Sébastien tries to take care of Paige and help her get past the awful things that happened to her are so sweet you'll get a tooth ache 😂 Just like the first book there are twists and turns that unexpected yet grab and pull you into the story harder! Must pick this one up especially if you read book 1 already.
