Publisher's Summary

Shannon Brycen believes she is the epitome of pitifully ugly. Kalen, Shannon's overly social sister, is determined to play matchmaker and find a special someone for her sister. After a disastrous date with one of Kalen's recent selections, Shannon decides to take her love life back into her own hands by joining the local lesbian cyber matchmaker.

Mid 30s, still single, housebroken but rabid. If you're looking for something different, then I'm your girl. Write me if you dare.... P. U. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to build her profile after consuming half a bottle of her favorite wine...or to use a picture of herself at the age of six - after she had cut her own hair - as her online profile photograph.

Hiding behind the online persona of Pitifully Ugly, Shannon finds the courage to meet new women and face the disaster called dating. As her charming personality surfaces, Shannon's search for the perfect match may be closer than she realizes.

Sooooo good

I’d already decided that Lori Prince and Robin Alexander were a match made in heaven based on all the other Audiobooks Lori has narrated for Robin. But if I’d ever had any doubts at all, listening to this audiobook would have wiped them entirely off the planet. This is one of Robin’s books that I haven’t gotten around to reading in print, so listening to this AB was my first experience with it. Boy, am I glad I waited, because listening to Lori’s enactment of some of the funnier scenes nearly had me peeing my pants. All of Robin’s books are funny, but some scenes in this one ascend to a new level of hilarity. I also really liked the premise and the love story that uniquely unfolds in this book. If you’re looking for an audiobook that will have you wiping away tears of laughter while also offering you a love story that’s sweet but a little off the beaten path, this one will make you very, very happy.

Hire Lori Prince again!

I really wish all of Robin Alexander’s books were narrated by Lori Prince because they’re both my faves & the absolute perfect combo. Robin truly writes the best rom-coms that make me cry laughing every single story. I’ve read all her books, love love love her.

Then Lori is someone who makes even the worst books bearable & brings the best ones to life bc she gives so much to all her performances. Makes me feel even more present within the stories being told when the narrator is that excellent. I think Temporary Girl is my fave out of Robin’s books that Lori has narrated but she did great job with this one too & I think I actually enjoyed it more than when I simply read the Kindle version.

I would also LOVE to hear her narrate both of the Cat Island & White Oak series. Pleeeeease bring at least one of those series to Audible with Lori as the narrator!!

Not the best from Robin

The story is quite good and very funny. The biggest problem i had with this is the narration, which i dont think i've said with Lori Prince before. The main character had a pretty loud voice at times which made me turn down the volume, and then there were characters that had voices so low i couldn't actually hear them so i had to turn it back up.
Like the first sentence says its not my favourite from Robin, but by no means is it a bad book and i dont regret buying it.

Don’t drive and listen!

Like all Robin Alexander books, Pitifully Ugly was absolutely hysterical. I am very glad that I did not use this for my normal commute book as there would’ve been some serious damage to my car. I was laughing so hard I was crying and that would’ve made for an unsafe driving situation. I highly recommend this story. Lori Prince did a wonderful job capturing the voices and bringing the story to life.

Hilarious!

What a wonderful story! The banter between the sisters was hilarious and how Lori Prince manages to read some of the scenes is amazing! Another book with strong women who come to terms with who they are and why they are. Some of the scenes will have you laughing hysterically!!!

I broke a rib.

You'll laugh that hard too. The book has some beautiful and clever moments and others that were so frustrating. As far as an audio book though, is so worth it. Lori Prince had the right pacing, inflections and punchlines. I loved it.

I have severely underestimated Robin Alexander

What I mean by the title, is that Robin Alexander fell under my radar as an author to keep my eye on and for that I do apologize. From first glance at the book title, I thought the story would revolve around the MC's ability to accept and overcome her insecurities. While it kind of does touch base on that, it's more about trust and acceptance. Now... this is the part where I must apologize to the author, because simply put, the story could of been an angsty, heavy, not fun at all read due to some of the things Robin Alexander touches base on, but it wasn't... at all. It was funny as hell and I found myself laughing most of the time while listening to the book. Lori Prince kills it and honestly I can't think of a better person to narrate this kind of book, absolutely fantastic. If there is some producer looking for romcom material, they should seriously take a script from Robin Alexander because the stuff she writes is comedic gold. So after all this praise, why did I give the story a 4/5? Well... the story was shallow. It didn't have depth and it felt like the characters didn't really change through out the course of the book. Also, it felt like 80% of the characters were scumbags and that detracted my enjoyment from the story. So, overall, I think you definitely should pick this up, it's hilarious and Robin Alexander has a way with thinking up some of the most ridiculous situations that will leave you on the floor laughing. Lori Prince seriously shines with comedic performances and is always a pleasure to listen to. The story deals with heavy topics but regardless, Robin Alexander makes it fun and light hearted.
