Publisher's Summary

No matter how hard I try, I can never drown the memories.

I miss alcohol. The craving claws against my stomach every day. And being in this rehab center doesn’t help. No one understands how it feels to not be able to save someone you love. I had to watch Macy’s demise. How she screamed for me to help her. I hear those screams. They echo in my head. A song on repeat.

And a patient here, Sunnie, she tries to make me feel better. She reads a damn book to me every chance she gets, and it grinds my nerves. Who the hell is that happy? She makes me want to drink.

Then, she shares her pain, and I realize her bright disposition is a mask. I find myself wanting to make her smile, to make her happiness permanent. Nothing is ever that easy. She and I have a common enemy. My nightmare has been released from prison. Her nightmare is the reason why he is free. I want to be done with the MC after they made me go to rehab.

But Sunnie deserves retribution. Macy deserves to finally rest in peace.

Wow!!!!

Pirate by K.L. Savage is so much more than pain, suffering, abuse and addiction. The author wrote a powerful book that touches on several rough subjects. There are some wounded characters that learn to overcome their past and obstacles. Some purely evil characters are also in the book. Without giving away spoilers, I loved how Pirate and Sunny had hope in the book. Tor Thom and Rachel Fuginiti both were impressive with their performance. Each added the right emotions that added to the book. They really delivered the gut wrenching feelings that became the characters. I also loved the twists and turns and thought the ending was perfect.

Emotional, dark and gritty

The prologue starts, and I am shocked and heartbroken. And totally hooked on this book. Patrick or Pirate as he is known in the MC is an alcoholic. Now in rehab, he is forced to deal with his addiction and his demons. He meets Sunnie at the clinic, and she too is broken. Together, these two take a journey that it devastating, yet cathartic. The pain each has suffered is so intricate and severe, at times it is hard to relate to, but the investment I had in them kept me going. I had to see it through! It takes a talented author to keep the listener invested, and Savage had my complete attention. This was my first listen of this series, and I can feel the camaraderie of the MC. I look forward to going back and listening to the others.

These complex characters needed narrators that could portray their brokenness and Tor Thom and Rachel Fuginiti were the perfect picks. Thom pulls out a performance that is gut-wrenching, pulling us into Pirate's pain and helps us heal. As the story progresses, you can still feel his emotions with the nuances used in his voice. Sunnie was a different kind of character. She held a brightness in her voice, even through her brokenness, just as her name reflects. These two nailed the story and truly did it justice.

Raw and gritty

Although I am familiar with narrator Tor Thom, both the author K.L . Savage and narrator Rachel Fuginiti are new to me.
Pirate was a powerful, raw and gritty story that drew me in and kept me on the edge of my seat from the first chapter. Please be advised that there are some parts of this story that may be a trigger for some, so you have been warned.
From the prologue the pain that Pirate is in is palpable and there were times throughout this story as I listened that moved me to tears. I gave up counting the times that my heart almost broke for Pirate and all that he has endured, his pain and suffering could be felt throughout and Tor Thom certainly brought that to his narration.
There were so many twists and turns that I felt as though I was on tender hooks but I had to keep listening as I needed to know what happened next. After being forced into rehab by his MC brothers, Pirate meets Sunnie, a woman who is also fighting her own demons. Even though dating between patients is frowned upon, for Pirate and Sunnie,, they are exactly what one another needs.
This is a powerful story of determination, of overcoming the horrors of ones past and learning to live and love again and the narrators both did justice to the characters with their performances.

I always have a hard time with addiction type stories as that goes this was a hard book to finish. the struggles overshadowed the escapism that fiction allows us. I hope the rest of the series is better

Fantastic story!!

This story has heart! This story starts off with a horrific act by a very sick Predator. This story made me believe in over coming a very traumatic childhood. This is an extremely well written storyline. I definitely can’t wait for more stories by this author.
The narrator’s do a fabulous job with the characters and voices of each character making it easy to distinguish between the characters. Tor Thom is one of my favorite narrator’s! I listening to his sexy voice portraying the characters. Rachel Fuginiti is a new narrator to me and she does an amazing job. I will have to keep an ear out for her narration.
I definitely recommend this audiobook it’s a fabulous listen!

Amazing Book

I have to say after reading this book and then listening to this book that the narrators brought K.L. Savage's characters to life. Loved. Loved. Loved. Wow, this was one book I had to process before I could put words down on how it affected me. Such a strong story that really left me a little broken. Pirate and the guilt he faces for the loss of Macy drives him to make his club make a decision that hurts him more. Then he meets Sunnie and her story just shows that two people so broken can find something more. Then the story twists and turns in a way that left me gasping. I love this book, this author and these characters so much. I cannot wait for more from this author but I may need a moment to catch my breath. AMAZING STORY!!!! Wish I could give it more than five stars. K.L. Savage you have rocked my world yet again.

A Brilliant & Emotional🎧📚🎧Listen! Wild & Intense!

Wow, what a powerful and gut-wrenching start to a book, the story not only grabbed my attention, it grabbed my heart and shattered it. K.L. Savage sure knows how to get their readers and/or audiobook listeners moving and despite the hard to get thru start I loved every minute of this book. It is a well written and well told story, one I found captivating from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. The horrors that Patrick was subjected at thirteen years old broke him and he lived his life trying to forget by drowning in alcohol, it was the only thing that kept his nightmares and demons away. His goal was to drink himself to death, but his MC brothers took action and forced him into rehab. And that is where he met Sunnie and despite her own brokenness and demons she was like a ray of Sunshine to him, she grounded him and gave her a reason to live. And yes, all their broken pieces fit together perfectly. That girl has not had the easiest of lives, brought up by the worst humans possible, despite that and all she had been through she was a good natured and hearted person. I loved how everything played out in this book, it was not an easy journey for either of these characters but it pays off in the end in more ways than one. The story is brilliantly plotted and their is plenty of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt and emotional moments and the start of a great romance. K.L. Savage, thank you for taking me on a wild, emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Tor Thom and Rachel Fuginiti are talented narrators and voice artists. They were awesome at portraying the characters, giving each their own voice, humanizing them, capturing all of their emotions and projecting them into their performance. They grasped each character’s persona and played that role with perfection, Tor Thom’s Patrick was spot on, he made you feel all his anguish and Rachel Fulginiti played the perfect Sunnie. Both were great at covering the roles of the secondary characters as well. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you the another awesome listen.

This pirate is full of treasure

Wow this story just flew on my earpuds. I can’t believe it was over. It grabbed my attention from the beginning till the end. This is a new author for me , K.L wrote a strong story, All the characters are strong, they know they can depend on each other the way an M/C would be like , like brothers. The world-building was is very well done and the descriptions given make it easy to visualise everything. .
You wonder why Pirate was depressed that he turned to the bottle. Pirate whole world turned around once he meet Sunny. Pirate know he had to get his act together and be strong not only for himself but for Sunny . Sunny is kidnapped and she don’t know what to do . Pirate knows he will be out for blood to get her back to him . Won’t tell you more . Grab and story and see what happened to the couple.

First time I heard Rachel Fuginiti . Her performance with Tor Thom is fantastic. They brought the story to life . You actually through you were right beside the characters .
