The Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge provides basic knowledge that is essential for pilots. This handbook introduces pilots to the broad spectrum of knowledge that will be needed as they progress in their pilot training. Except for the Code of Federal Regulations pertinent to civil aviation, most of the knowledge areas applicable to pilot certification are presented. This handbook is useful to beginning pilots, as well as those pursuing more advanced pilot certificates.

Occasionally the word “must” or similar language is used where the desired action is deemed critical. The use of such language is not intended to add to, interpret, or relieve a duty imposed by Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR). It is essential for persons using this handbook to become familiar with and apply the pertinent parts of 14 CFR and the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM). The AIM is available online at faa.gov. The current Flight Standards Service airman training and testing material and learning statements for all airman certificates and ratings can be obtained from faa.gov.

This handbook supersedes FAA-H-8083-25A, Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, dated 2008.

It does what it should

A well-narrated and informative rendition of the Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge. There are good explanations for things that are difficult to visualize, and the narrator was easy to listen to.

Excellent Addition to Book/Computer-Based Study

Fantastic way to augment you more traditional study methods. Really hoped to squeeze in extra study while driving and working out!!!

needs a better narration

this guy's voice is perfect at putting you to sleep. get anyone else. with a more alert voice. or rather a voice that commands attention. aside from that the book is great!!

It’s a must if your trying to become a pilot!

Everything you need to know about aviation. All your pilot exams and check rides will come from all the information in this book. I recommend listening to this anytime you have free time.

Audible plus paper

I read the paper copy, I found the audible by accident looking for books to listen to while doing my bicycle ride routine before dawn. It helped me a lot in my oral exam.

Wasn’t sure at first.

So I got this book but I wasn’t sure if listening to it would be helpful because so much of aviation is driven by pictures and charts. I listened to it while I was working out and for me it was still very helpful and a good review. I am an ATP pilot flying Part 135 and every time I review aerodynamic theory, i’m always remembering things that are still in there (my old brain) but not readily accessible. That chapter I listened to twice…

It was overall very good!

I wasn’t sure what to expect for it being the first time I listened to a book rather than reading it. But it made it a lot easier. I really enjoyed listening to the Audio book version of Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge FAA-H-8083-25B. I really enjoyed listening to this book!

Boring Book

I would have never finished reading this intire book on my own. Thank you Audible.
