Publisher's summary

Layla: Owen Riggins is too good to be true. The best things in life usually are. He's good looking, generous, and interested in me. Too bad someone like him and someone like me aren't meant to be together.

He's used to the best things in life, and I've grown up with the worst. Building a better life means working hard and staying on track, not falling for some sexy suit with a brooding stare who is just passing through.

Life has taught me not to trust, and even though I want him more than anything, I don't need his charity or his love....

Owen: When a friend sends me to Florida to scout out a hotel, it's the gorgeous waitress with a shy smile and worn-out shoes I can't take my eyes off of.

Layla Massey is quiet, beautiful, and in need of a little help - even if she won't admit it. A generous tip was meant to buy her some suitable shoes, not to buy her love. I want to earn that all on my own.

I'm used to women throwing themselves at me, the name, the money...but she wants neither. It makes me want her all the more.

Little by little, she opens up and piece by piece, she's taking my heart.

Narration

I love the story and Elizabeth does great narration. Curt Bonnem’s narration is whiny and annoying. Does not match the persona of Owen.

Riggins brothers are the best

Like I already said in my tittle Riggins brothers are the best. This family is full of love, of banters and it made me feel good and happy.
Owen was so protective and caring. He knows his way around woman and I loved his confidence. He's willing to do everything in his power to help Layla, even though he don't know her.
Loved the story and mostly loved the narrators for this book.

A heart warming romance with low angst but has all the feels!

Owen Riggins has a heart of GOLD and I am in love with him! He is truly has a kind, nurturing soul under his sexy and quiet exterior and it is sexy as hell! I was already swooning over him
after his first encounter with Layla!

Owen is one of the Riggins brothers and while on a work trip in Florida, he meets a woman named,
Layla in a restaurant. She is his waitress who he can tell is struggling but he has a need to be with her and take care of her. “You captivate me. You’re one of the strongest women I ever met.” They come from two opposite worlds so how can something even work out even if they wanted it to. The biggest complication is that he’s from out of town for business so there’s no way anything can happen. What happens when it’s time for Owen to leave and go back to his job and life in Tennessee? This book is a beautiful and romantic love story that has low angst and little drama. Owen and Layla will captivate your hearts and feeling all the feels for Layla and her past.

Another incredible narration by Curt Bonnem and Elizabeth Hart! I love their different voices for each other characters and their ability to portray so many different family members so well! Phenomenal performance!

One of my favorites in this series

The Riggins are #lifegoals, and reading/hearing Layla's back story made me Team Layla and Owen all the way. Narration was good, too. This isn't the 1st time I've read or listened to it, and it won't be the last.

Great series.

I’m falling in love with this series. Those Riggins men are one hundred percent book boyfriends material. Each book gives you something different that captivates me and has me waiting with bated breath for get to the next chapter. I have to tell my heart rate to slow down as I listen/read the story. Love the book, really glad I finally get to read/listen to this series,

Sweet Story

This read was good and I loved Owen, he is what made this story for me. I found Layla too whiny and just didn't feel the connection. The Riggins Family as always kept me entertained. This story has some twists I wasn't expecting that kept me on the edge of my seat.

not a fan

DNF the audio. I personally did not care for male narrator. The woman was ok. I don't mind insta love stories but this one was crazy fast.

a wonderful performance!

"The magic, whether it’s a Riggins thing, or a love thing, is fierce when you find the right woman to share your life with"

Sometimes, between the darker romances I read, I need something lighter in between. I can always count on Kaylee Ryan when I want a sweet corny romance with a touch of suspense.

"I’m no one to him, yet he continues to take care of me. It’s overwhelming the feeling of being seen. Not just being seen, but it makes me feel not so alone in the world."

I read Beat by Beat first and knew I'd want to go back and read the other brother's stories!

I'm really glad I did. I loved Owen and Layla's story!

Owen was a huge teddy bear with a loyal and giving heart. The second he saw Layla, he knew she was meant to be more for him! He was done watching her struggle and believed she deserved more than the hand life had dealt her and was determined to help her in any way he could.

“I’m sorry you were dealt such a shitty hand at life.”
“I’m doing okay,” I say, shrugging. “There are rough times, but all I have to think about is where I came from. How I’ve gotten where I am on my own, and it gives me the strength to keep pushing through. Even on the days when I let the thought of giving up filter through my mind, I keep fighting my way through life.”
