Publisher's Summary

Who cut off Medusa's head? Who was raised by a she-bear? Who tamed Pegasus? And whatever happened to that Golden Fleece?

It takes a demigod to know the answers, and Percy Jackson can fill you in on all the daring deeds of Perseus, Atalanta, Bellerophon, and the rest of the major Greek heroes. Told in the funny, irreverent style listeners have come to expect from Percy ("I've had some bad experiences in my time, but the heroes I'm going to tell you about were the original old-school hard-luck cases. They boldly screwed up where no one had screwed up before...."), this story collection will become the new must-have classic for Rick Riordan's legions of devoted fans - and for anyone who needs a hero.

Percy Jackson is the eponymous hero of the best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. He made his debut in The Lightning Thief at just 12 years old, where he discovered the shocking truth about his parentage: He is a demigod, the son of a mortal woman and the god Poseidon. Beyond his own series, he was one of the protagonists in the Heroes of Olympus series and has since appeared in other spin-off novels and series from Riordan.

Another informative read

I think I enjoyed this one more than Greek Gods because it was longer and it contained the stories of heroes from Greek mythology that I wanted to learn more about but didn't want to struggle through by reading the original myths. The narrator was alright and told the story with the charisma I was expecting from Percy Jackson, although his voices started to sound the same. If you're a fan of Percy Jackson or curious about myths from Greek mythology, then this book is for you.

Funny retelling of Greek mythology; great narrator

The best Percy Jackson narrator returns with another installment of mythological stories, this time involving the Greek heroes. Both my 13 year old and I enjoyed listening to it, and looked forward to each night's installment.

My only complaint is that I thought Riordan went a bit too far trying to make the stories relevant to modern kids. I have no problem with that in his pure fiction books, but in these retellings of mythology, the stories would stand on their own without the topical references to modern celebrities and technology.

That said, this book is a great intro to mythology, especially for tweens and early teens.

Livens up Greek Mythology

Provides a well researched look in Greek Mythology while providing a family friendly modern perspective through the narrator.

Very disappointed 😟

I generally liked this book and it had lots of information regarding the Greek gods and heroes but I don’t like the way rick portrays rape as if it is not a siruos and horrible crime i was very disappointed. Ps. same goes for the other book Percy Jackson’s Greek gods.

Missing some stuff

I own the real book, but I noticed that not everything was included. The story and performance was good, but sadly not the audio book was missing some parts. :(

Tries a little too hard to be hip to the kids

Another great performance by this narrator, but this book is really trying to make Greek history cool for young readers. Don't expect to get a large fictional narrative from it, but it succeeds in what it is.
