Excellent!

I really enjoyed following Partho and Dev around India and Dubai as Partho used his thinking and logic to solve the mystery. I thought it was a lot of good fun with slay and sometimes overt humor. All of the characters are interesting, some more than others, but not a boring one in the bunch! The book is rather short and the publisher's blurb is a good hook. so no story summary here. I loved it!
I won the audio in a giveaway and found it interesting to listen to the Georgia accented English of Joseph G Deak. It gave me a little disconnect from other stories from India, but he did an excellent performance.

Indian Sherlock Holmes/Agatha Christie story

This is a great little Sherlock Holmes/Agatha Christie story but with an Indian twist. It's told through the eyes of Partho's friend, who's more hesitant - sort of like the Watson to Holmes. What starts out as a very simple mystery turns into something much deeper. The story is cute and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The book is well-written and makes me want to grab more from this talented author!
The narrator is pretty tough to listen to though. While I did appreciate the added sound effects, phone ringing, phone voice, etc., and I think that's definitely a plus, the problem is the narrator's over-acting. I think the narrator would do well taking an acting class and finding a more natural zone to read in.
I was provided this audiobook and chose to provide an honest, voluntary review.

Not your usual mystery

This was a fun story with interesting characters. The gadgets give a fun twist. Very lighthearted.

Fun, quick murder/mystery set in India

Partho, the Unconventional Investigator: The Mystery of the Missing Bags by Rajib Mukherjee is Book 1 in the Partho Mystery Series. This book packs a lot into just under four hours. A handful of black bags go home with the wrong people at the airport. One of those who went home with someone elses bag is Parthos' friend and they all soon realize that someone is REALLY desperate to get thier bag back and will do anything, including committing murder, to get it back. The clock is ticking and the story moves along at a quick pace. The story is entertaining and I feel that it's a good start to the series!

Joseph G Deak isn't a bad narrator, but I didn't think that he fit this story at all. His narration of the characters that he read with Indian accents sounded just fine, but I felt like the main character was an energetic, misplaced cowboy from America. It was honestly quite unnerving. I would listen to another of his performances, though I'd check the sample beforehand. In addition, I'm not really one for additional sound effects in my audiobooks, as I find them distracting and unnecessary, though I know that some people like them. Actually, let me clarify that statement-I don't mind them when they are well done and serve a purpose. I just didn't feel that it did in this particular story. Great Mystery!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a good book and I loved it. I have never been to India so I wonder what it is really like? Is the setting portrayed correctly in the book? Anyways, I like the characters and they really caught me up into the story. I will be looking for the rest of the series now!

A fun little mystery

For the most part, I enjoyed listening to the audiobook Partho. I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator. It seemed a strange choice for a story that takes place in India. But other than that, this was interesting and fun. A little short for my taste, but still a very solid and entertaining book. <3

South Carolina drawl in India.

I was not impresses with the story being in India but the narrator having a Carolina drawl. The story was good, but the narrator was a detractor.
