Police Constable Matthew Riley is called to an emergency on a blazing hot day in Langthorne. He is forced to read out these words live on police radio. Then he is shot dead. Someone is killing the officers of the Langthorne Police one by one. And in a sadistic twist he makes each victim push their radio panic button before they die, thus broadcasting their last moments to the entire force.

And as the police face this ruthless adversary, detective George Elms is in no fit state to help. He can barely keep his life together and is desperate to sort things out with his estranged wife and daughter. What is the connection between ruthless former officer Ed Kavski and the wave of killings? And can their boss Helen Webb do anything to stop the carnage?

I have just discovered Charlie Gallagher’s books. First book and I knew I had to buy more credits and continue George’s story. Great story with interesting characters. The cherry on top is Gildart Jackson’s narration. I have listened to him before and he really makes the book series impossible to put down. Excellent. I can see the characters. Thank you!

Incredible narrator

The second in the series this book extends the gripping suspense from book one, and adds layer upon layer of intrigue. I’m binge listening to the series and have fallen deeply for the stellar performances of Gildart Jackson - it may well be I cannot listen to any other voice actor again when I finish book 4. Okay that’s dramatic, but you get it.
Highly recommended this book.

So very good

In a way I guess it means it's a great story, I really dislike where this story has gone. I really stressed over it and almost stopped listening to it. I really disliked where the story went and could barely finish hearing it. It's a serious twist and I'm fairly sure I know who's manipulating it all from behind because that person has not been unveiled yet. But I'm fairly sure I know who it is. Now the question is if I can stand to listen to the next book or not. Part of me is shaking from frustration of this book. I can't say I love the book because it has upset me so. But in a way that's probably the strongest reason for saying it's well written. I'm really angry and frustrated with it. But I guess it shows it's well written.

I don't like where this story has gone

It was a good story, but the language clouded the overall feeling of the performance. Well written.

First of all each book leaves you on a massive cliffhanger which is so annoying because I am not the type of person who can’t know the end of a story…. Do not waste your time on these books…. If you like detective crime stories with an actually somewhat believable plot… then RUN! The plots are so ridiculous & the actions the main character takes make no sense at all…. No sane, logical COP would do the stupid things this guy does…. Heck, no untrained person on the street would make the stupid decisions this guy does! TERRIBLE WASTE OF TIME. I’m only happy I didn’t waste a credit on these & they’re part of the free catalog…. Just a massive waste of time in my opinion. The narrator did do a great job though on this crap story.

AWFUL, RIDICULOUS, & UNBELIEVABLE
