Publisher's summary

Detective Charlie Crawford is having a tough week. First, Palm Beach’s ex-police chief washes up dead on the beach behind The Breakers. Then Charlie’s friend’s niece is abducted without a trace. As if that wasn't bad enough, his brother just checked himself into a clinic for depression and alcoholism.

The good news is Charlie’s love life has never been better...except with the woman he really loves.

Palm Beach Bones

Thoroughly enjoy the Charlie Crawford series! I frequently drive long distances and love to listen to the mystery, intrigue, and humor Tom Turner winds through his storytelling!

Series continues to be worth the credit

I really enjoyed the first there books, the story in this the fourth book was equally as good as the first three. The problem comes with a change of narrators. Phil Thone was so good, he stayed in my head, the characters were defined by him.
I almost skipped this edition based on a bad review of the narrator but realized the person writing it had not noticed it was a different person. I don’t know why the change, but half way through I adapted to his style and realized he was good, he was following a marvelous act, tough to do. I will buy the fifth if there is one with him as the reader. Hope Audible and author go back to Phil.

Great read but not so great narration..

Haven’t read the first 4 Palm Beach books in a while, then I ran across this one. I like Charlie Crawford and his partner Ott. They were looking for a murderer and in-between they had to find the kidnapped niece Lila, of their friend Balfour. It was interesting having two stories going on at once.

No sex and the F-bomb was used 35 times.

As to the narration: Wow, it wasn’t good at all. Jerrod Haarstad was no where as good as Phil Thron, who did the first four books. Phil gave everyone their own special voice while Jerrod had every voice sounding exactly the same.

Love the series, but…

Story was great but like other reviewers, didn’t care for the narration. I thought Ott was from Cleveland. I was hearing a southern accent. I got used to it because the story was good I hope they can get the other guy back.

Changing narrator in the middle of the series

Very disappointed in the 4th book. The character Ott It’s not originally from the south and did not have a southern accent in the first three novels. Neither did the main character. This narrator is horrible. So disappointed as I wanted to listen to the whole series because the series itself is good. But turned me off completely with the narration and the performance.

you can tell why phil torn didn’t want to read this book

within the first chapter you can see the drop in quality compared to the first 3 books and the narrator doesn’t help either
