Publisher's Summary

A cyborg drowning in emotions and an abducted Earth woman trying not to feel.

Abducted, enslaved, and constantly worried for her daughter, scientist Dr. Simone Li has had a rough few months. Now that she and her daughter Grace have been rescued by the fierce cyborgs of the House of Rone, she’s trying to make a life for them on the desert world of Carthago.

But guilt and worry are eating at her. Toren - a once-emotionless cyborg - was injured rescuing them from the dangerous Edull aliens. Now, he’s inundated with emotions and not coping. Drawn to the wounded cyborg, Simone must find a way to help him and still protect her battered heart.

Bred to be a warlord’s personal cyborg, Toren has prided himself on being a cool, precise fighter dedicated to his house and imperator. Now, his entire life has been torn apart. He’s broken, useless, and sidelined as an elite House of Rone cyborg. Every minute of every day, he struggles through a deluge of unfamiliar emotions and wants revenge...and only one woman calms the storm.

Desperate to bring down the Edull and rescue another abducted woman, Toren and Simone go undercover in the desert. Despite the dangers around them, these two tortured souls can no longer fight their intense attraction and the pull of fierce, overwhelming emotion. But Toren will soon have a choice to make: risk it all for love, or go back to being the emotionless warrior he’s always been.

Great author. Great narrator!

Hackett and Lehane are an unbeatable team in this sci-fi romance novel. Innovative action and impossible situations bringing to improbable people together halfway across the galaxy make for a fun and entertaining adventure. I am a huge fan of Anna Hackett. you just can't go wrong with her books, and this one in particular I looked forward to and she did not disappoint.

The fight continues

Another wonderful book in the House of Rone series. Toren and Simone's tale is one of learning to redefine your life and Ms. Hackett does a superb job of walking her characters to a new personal reality. Plenty of the action and steam that her books are known for and Vivienne Leheny's awesome narration put Palidin on my list of great audio books. Enjoy!

pretty good

BOOK REVIEW....... I found this couple to be a bit much at times. I only liked them a little together. I don't feel they were a solid hit as a couple. I think they lacked a little depth in character both together and apart. Which is why I only liked the book but didn't love it. I still totally recommend ALL of this author's books. NARRATOR REVIEW....... The narrator did a good job. Having both read the book and listened to the book, I have to say I did like it better after listening to it.

House of Rone fun!

I was really interested to see how this dynamic would work! If you've been following along, this is Book #4 of the House of Rone Series. Without giving away spoilers, I think the full cast of characters really helped elevate Simone and Toren's book. I enjoyed it and can't wait for Guard and i think the last of the Series book to be released. If you've stumbled on this review, I highly suggest starting with either Book #1 of House of Rone, or going to the Original of the Series Galactic Gladiators (Gladiator by Anna Hackett) where it all began.

Excellent

The fourth Galactic Gladiators: House of Rone book called Paladin is mostly about Dr. Simone Li, her daughter Grace humans and Toren a cyborg. Toren is seriously hurt rescuing Simone and Grace and is now having to deal with emotions he never wanted and is really struggling with them and Simone and Grace are the only ones who seem to be able to help him. Simone and Toren start out fighting the attraction between them but the pull is too strong and the sparks really fly ending in a scorching hot interaction between the two. From then on Toren has no intention of letting go of Simone, if they can learn to trust in their love it will be breathtaking. Another story full of action, humour and scorching hot romance and a worthy edition to the series which I highly recommend.
